The Innovation Room Honors Filipino Artistry and Mastery Through the Innovators Masterclass
Driven by its mission to innovate, collaborate, and create, Mark Anthony Rosales’ The Innovation Room proudly marked a milestone with the rollout of Innovators Masterclass, held on Saturday, October 25.
Attendees had the opportunity to learn from the finest visionaries in hair and makeup—Elo Zarsuela, Dexter Lopez, and Carla Quiogue—who passionately shared their creative insights and expertise.
With support from Urban Care and partner brand Flormar, the event impressively upheld its goal of fostering collaboration and artistry within the beauty community. From skincare to hairstyling, the masterclass introduced innovative techniques and fresh ideas to elevate everyday beauty routines.
Skinification
Before proceeding to the masterclass proper, Mark Anthony Rosales, founder of MARK’ED SALON, delivered a talk about how he started his scalp care advocacy. He shared his bold vision of addressing hair fall, a common problem among Filipinos. This prompted Mark to pioneer a hair scanner technology in the Philippines, leading the “SKINIFICATION” campaign for hair. It involves using the same techniques on our scalp as we do on our face to achieve clean, shiny, glass-like skin.
Mark also reminded everyone that our scalp is part of our skin too—saying, “Treat your scalp the way you treat your skin.”
Flawless Base: The Importance of Skin Prepping Before Makeup
Elo Zarsuela, a protégé of Albert Kurniawan, led the first masterclass, emphasizing the core aspect of skin preparation before applying makeup. She discussed the fundamental role of choosing the right base products for each skin type to achieve long-lasting makeup.
Elo also delved into the basics of a skincare routine, including cleansing, exfoliating, moisturizing, and sun protection.
24-Hour Glow: The Ultimate Glam
Dexter Lopez, a makeup innovator, took charge of the second masterclass, demonstrating techniques to achieve a 24-hour glow—the ultimate glam look that holds up all day and night. He emphasized the value of following the makeup flow to uncover one’s unique radiance. It includes base mastery, sculpting and shaping, eye look foundations, lip contouring, and finishing touches.
Dexter also mentioned what drives him to conduct masterclasses: to empower people by embracing their own glow and shine with confidence.
The Art of Hairstyling
Carla Quiogue, a hair innovator, headed the third and final masterclass, revealing tips and hacks in hairstyling. She shared ideas on making curls last and crafting smooth, polished, and textured updos.
Carla also explained the art of checking angles to frame the face and the proper way to use hairpins—remarking, “There’s nothing a hairpin couldn’t fix.”
Without a doubt, the Innovators Masterclass serves as proof that The Innovation Room is a hub where creativity and innovation thrive.
“We should never lose touch with the art of teaching. It’s really different when you personally get to share your experience. So, I believe in workshops. I believe in masterclass.”
– Mark Anthony Rosales, Founder of MARK’ed Salon
The Innovators Masterclass is a redefinition of what’s possible and a vibrant testament that innovative ideas can be brought to life. It is where creatives share the same passion—an empowering movement that celebrates mastery and shapes the future of Filipino artistry.
