RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 14 just announced its first straight male contestant — Maddy Morphosis

The contestants for the show’s 14th season have just been announced. It includes the first-ever straight man on the award-winning reality tv, Maddy Morphosis.
This is the first time someone who doesn’t identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community was allowed to join, proving how they are trying hard to be diverse and inclusive.
There have been numerous controversies that have surrounded RuPaul’s Drag Race since its inception in 2009. This is way back when it was on Logo TV. Despite this, the show still skyrocketed to the mainstream media.
The problematic past of the show, however, still prompted the fans to call out the production team and RuPaul herself. Especially since the supermodel was the one being very problematic. Past tense, because she’s claiming that she has undergone change already.
Of course, we’re talking about the Drag Superstar’s discrimination against the trans community. After being called out for years, she has finally featured the first-ever out transman contestant on the show.
Just last season, she included the super talented Gottmik in the talented lineup. She made it to the Top 4.
Aside from her, the show has had its fair share of breakthroughs when it comes to inclusivity. Just with the last season of All-Stars, the first-ever trans winner of the show has been crowned, the oh-so-gorgeous, Kylie Sonique Love.
Meanwhile, the just-concluded third season of the UK franchise included the franchise’s first cisgender woman, Victoria Scone, who identifies as a lesbian. Also, in its first season, it featured a bisexual performer, Scaredy Kat, who had a girlfriend when he was on the show.
We’re seeing the changes being made and how they are trying to embrace inclusivity. We applaud the show for that despite still having other issues that need to be addressed. What’s important is they are finally initiating change and encouraging inclusivity and diversity.
Let’s all hope for a sickening season!
