Outfits to Cop in Webtoon’s Wind Breaker
Wind Breaker is Webtoon’s sports manhwa written and illustrated by Yongseok Jo. This manhwa centered on academic prodigy and super rookie Jay Jo, following the footsteps of his late uncle and cyclist superstar, Mahon Jo. Aside from his reignited passion for cycling, what drives Jay more into it is unearthing the truth about the allegations on doping against his uncle. Aside from Jay’s motive, it’s also a story about new found friendship and how they will sail against waves of life coming against them.
Views and readerships don’t just define Wind Breaker’s success. It’s 9-long years since released in 2013 is one of the manhwa’s achievement. Moreover, what’s also commendable in Wind Breaker are the outfits worn by the characters. The fact that some of these are also sported by the author himself.
In addition, the apparent style or theme seen in the series is street wear, which mirrors Yongseok’s personal taste in clothing as well. The usual favorites of jackets, hoodies, windbreakers, t-shirts, sweaters, sweatpants, and sneakers are evident throughout the series. Jay Jo in monochrome
Black and white sure is Jay’s colors. In this panel, Wind Breaker’s protagonist wore black half-zip jacket with sweatpants of same color. His signature black Old Skool canvas sneakers completed the monochrome get up.
Vinny Hong in pink
If monochrome is out of your league, then try colorful pieces. Out of his usual track jacket-sweatpants, Vinny chose pink flannel with a hoodie underneath. Try a different take on hoodies by layering it with anything like buttoned shirt or bomber jackets contrary to common practice of wearing it alone.
Minu Yoon’s conyo look
Jay and Vinny’s dress code is minimalist and safe. But, Minu has a different perspective. He does it in a slick, suave way just like his move for his love interest. Minu is seen in a navy crew neck shirt, t-shirt, and sweatpants. He also slipped on white trainers for more ease and comfort.
Dom Kang and street wear
Dom Kang is truly loyal to street wear core compared to the rest of Humming Bird Crew. He sticks into his comfort, which are street wear and Jordans. His go-to are hoodies, sweatpants and of course, pair of Air Jordan 1s. These pairing are easy and fool-proof way to achieve the street style look.
June Lee in keeping it sporty
Windbreakers are essential in June’s wardrobe. The sporty, athletic windbreaker goes well with the casual sweatpants as how June always does it. Windbreaker offers the edge and comfort we all look for.
Shelly Scott in utilitarian fashion
Wind Breaker definitely said that if boys can, then girls can do it too. The only rose among the thorns keeps up with the boys in fashion besides cycling. Shelly donned a fur-collared olive green parka over a shirt and shorts.
There is no denying that style references comes in all forms, and in this case a manhwa series. Wind Breaker scoped everything from cycling, friendship, almost true-to-life scenarios, and fashion. It is a no brainer if she enjoys watching or reading anything that falls into the three. If she can no longer handle the exhaustion and stress from writing, a cup of coffee with a side of sweets and anime is her comfort. An apprentice who draws inspiration, either in what she read, watched, listened, or seen. She always empties herself, thinking that she's a blank slate who needs to learn how to fill her canvas."
