Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh ties the knot with Tim Tebow
Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters and Former NFL quarterback turned professional baseball player Tim Tebow took Instagram to announce that they are now officially married.
The two had an intimate 30-minute sunset ceremony at La Paris Estate in Cape Town, South Africa on Monday, January 20. According to PEOPLE magazine, 260 guests came to witness the exchanging of vows of the couple.
Demi-Leigh walked down the aisle wearing a custom made wedding gown from David’s Bridal while Tim looked dashing in a tuxedo designed by Antar Levar.
The 24-year-old South African Miss Universe said that they chose to blend both South African and American traditions to their big day. “We wanted to look back at the wedding and see that it was intimate, elegant, and traditional. [We] definitely wanted it to be something that we could look back on and know that nothing was dated. [We] want to remember this day for the rest of our lives.”
Tim, in fact, has been vocal about his marriage before sex mantra. In his interview a day before the wedding, he said that he can’t wait to marry his soulmate.
“I’ve been waiting my entire life for someone special, who I can spend the rest of my life with. I was waiting for the right person to come along. And now I’m marrying Demi. I can’t wait to see what our future holds. All of my dreams have come true. It was 100 percent worth the wait,” he confessed.
They first met through an event sponsored by Tim’s nonprofit foundation when Demi was still the reigning Miss Universe. They got engaged in January 2019 after more than a year of dating.
