Five things about Stephanie Prince — the Pinoy glamazon from the second season of ‘Canada’s Drag Race’
A lot of Filipinos are fans of the revolutionary drag-centered, award-winning show, RuPaul’s Drag Race. Since its release in 2009, it continuously introduces a wide array of audiences to the art of drag.
In the show’s long run, it has produced franchises outside the United States of America. We already have Drag Race Thailand, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, Drag Race Holland, Drag Race España, Drag Race Down Under, the newly-announced Drag Race Philippines, and a lot more future franchises.
However, what we’ll talk about is the one from the North—the second season of Canada’s Drag Race. Most specifically, a contestant, one of our own, the gorgeous Stephanie Prince.
We will be listing five facts you need to know about the talented queen who has Filipino blood flowing through her veins.
Stephanie Prince — what is behind her name?
In middle school, she was often teased and called Stephanie due to her femininity. Due to this, she channeled her inner Diana Prince. If you are not familiar, it is the civilian name of Wonder Woman.
The drag queen turned an insult into her strength. Now, she’s the fabulous Stephanie Prince!
Stephanie rocks the Alberta Drag Scene
The drag queen was born in the Philippines. She moved to Calgary in 2011 and has been gagging the Alberta drag scene by storm ever since.
Stephanie is brutally honest
In her Meet the Queens video, she revealed how she is very honest when it comes to giving feedback. She doesn’t shy away from giving helpful advice if needed. As she put it,
“If you are ever doubting yourself and you want a brutally honest answer, you come to me. That’s when I tell you you look bad. That’s when I tell you this is what you need to fix. And then you’re gonna thank me later.”
She was inspired by the Ladyboys of the Philippines
According to her website, she was surrounded by the beauty and glamour of the Ladyboys of the Philippines as she grew up. They inspired her to pursue the art of drag.
The Haus of Prince
Stephanie believes in the importance of supporting and uplifting new members of the community. Also, as a part of the LGBTQIA+, she wants to create a safe space for them to grow into their own.
Due to this, she has built an empire in the Western Canadian Drag scene called the Haus of Prince. She has accomplished this at only 24 years old.
That’s all we can find about the promising drag queen. However, I bet that we’ll get to know more about her because she will surely go far in the competition. How can we wait until October 14?
She looks fierce, and as she said, she can vogue the house down boots. We’re in for a treat for sure!
