Crystal B on sharing her music, artistry, passion no holds barred
In the developmental histories of gay men and women, periods of difficulty in acknowledging their homosexuality, either to themselves or to others, are often reported. Children who grow up to be gay rarely receive family support in dealing with anti-homosexual prejudices. Thankfully, Crystal B did not experience this situation with her mom K Brosas.

On showing her love and sincere respect to her mom
During K Brosas’ 45th birthday, the daughter of comedienne-singer has finally admitted that she’s a proud lesbian. There’s a video of her and her daughter today on Instagram, where Crystal announced,
“Ako po si Crystal, and I am a lesbian. I am gay.”
K Brosas said she already knew her daughter was gay when she was in high school, and fully accepted her. She told that Crystal came out to her crying, after an “unfortunate event.” But, she lovingly replied to her daughter that she loves her, no matter what. She also said she’s very proud of Crystal because of her talent in dancing, playing the guitar, and even composing her songs!
Even at a young age, Crystal knows that she has a passion to be a musician like her parents.
“With that, I was exposed to a lot of things, when it comes to music. Of course, with my mom being in showbiz for a long time now. I was just inspired by that, I want to go to the path that my mom is also taking.”
A progressive mom and daughter amidst people’s criticisms
Crystal also shared that K. Brosas as a mom is quite different from her personality on camera.
“Kasi on cam, we see her as very jolly na parang di nauubusan ng energy, na hindi seryoso sa buhay. Pero as a mom, she’s very serious, she really listens to what your opinions are. I can say she’s very modern kasi yung views nya is not very traditional like what is a Filipino mom kasi. Of course me, being part of LGBT community, she accepts that 100 percent, without any conditions. Very bestfriend-type lang kami, ganun sya as a mom.”
According to Crystal, K. Brosas does not talk that much but when she speaks, it’s something meaningful.
The singer-comedienne isn’t a people-pleaser when it comes to her personal life and she’s quite honest which is the most favorite trait of her daughter.
But even with her close relationship with her mom, Crystal B still had fears in revealing the truth years ago. One of the main reasons why she hesitated is because of K.Brosas’ career in showbiz.
“I didn’t want to break her image in a way. Back then, I think Filipinos are very traditional with their views about the LGBTQ community. I didn’t want to get her bashings. Kasi may iba na kinukwentyon yung parenting ng mga parents na may mga anak na member ng LGBTQ community.”
Being inspired a songwriter from her own experiences in life
Based on her experience, this talented composer-musician has great advice for those who are still not coming out to their family and loved ones:
“Don’t rush. Katulad nga sa kanta ko na Never too Fast, walang perfect timing eh. You don’t have to rush. Kumbaga para sa akin, whenever you’re ready.”
She believes that whatever their family and friends say, their happiness is much more important.
As a mentioned, Crystal Brosas even wrote a song entitled, Never Too Fast. In her opinion, Crystal said that one must have inspiration when it comes to songwriting. She proudly said that she dedicates that song to her girlfriend, Pola Anne. She got the inspiration to compose this song because of her personal feeling of falling in love “too fast”. She added,
“Pero sabi nga nila, there’s never too fast or too slow when it comes to love. And that’s what I felt. When I felt that, I made it in an artistic way, through a song. And that song was also too fast because I already wrote it in one day.”

Moreover, Crystal said that the song Never Too Fast simply wants to tell that ‘love has no fixed timing. Love has no exact date, there’s no such thing as perfect timing since every one of us has our own timing in love.‘
