Carla Abellana says she can’t see herself getting married again
Carla Abellana admitted that she couldn’t picture herself getting married for the second time following a controversial split from Tom Rodriguez.
Abellana, 36, and Rodriguez, 35, were lovers for years. As artists under the same network, they starred in several projects together. In particular, they headlined television series like My Husband’s Lover, Someone to Watch Over Me, and I Heart Davao.
In 2020, the two announced their engagement, then tied the knot in October 2021. Due to their long time together, they were a showbiz couple that many used to admire.
However, only three months had passed since their marriage, and the news of their alleged separation shook the public. Shortly after confirming their split, Abellana and Rodriguez officially ended their relationship by agreeing to a divorce.
Carla Abellana speaks up about failed marriage
On Thursday, Abellana granted an interview through Fast Talk with Boy Abunda to discuss her failed marriage. In an episode of the talk show, the actress readily answered intriguing questions, starting with what caused their separation.
“Napakadaming dahilan. But basically, (the) bottom line is umabot na sa breaking point, sobra na. There was still disrespect, all the lying, there was no change. Hindi po ‘yon first time na nangyari sa amin pero ito po is taken to a different level, extreme na.”
Furthermore, Abellana explained how the experience changed her perspective. Although she expressed hopes of being in love again, she admitted her current standpoint about marriage.
“I still believe in love [but] aaminin kong madaming nag-change sa perspective ko, especially with marriage. So I really, honestly don’t see myself getting married again.”
As the interview concluded, Abellana claimed no resentment toward Rodriguez, noting she already forgave him.
Renzo is an introvert who prefers to do things at his own pace. Unlike most writers, he reads lazily. Watching Korean dramas at night is his constant source of comfort. Although oftentimes commended for being outspoken, he speaks better through writing than with his words.
