BTS wins Top Social Artist at 2021 Billboard Music Awards
Boy group Bangtan Sonyeondan, Bulletproof Boys, Beyond the Scene. BTS has won Top Social Artist at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards.
The worldwide successful seven-member boy group earned the title for the fifth year in a row now. They were up against other big names, such as BLACKPINK, Ariana Grande, Seventeen, and the Philippines’ very own SB19.
They were also the most talked-about topics on Twitter early Monday morning, proving ARMYs never-ending support. “Congratulations BTS,” “Top Social Artist” and “BBMAs” were the phrases that trended.
Namjoon, Seokjin, Yoongi, Hoseok, Jimin, Taehyung, and Jungkook didn’t forget to thank their fans in a heartfelt video message. This is as expected from the always sweet boys.
The boys even won three awards at the BBMAs before the actual ceremony. Titles such as Top Duo/Group, Top Song Sales Artist, and Top Social Artist.
Bangtan’s extremely successful track, “Dynamite” is also up for Top Selling Song, which will be announced during the main show. Like a cherry on top, BTS also performed their infectious new single “Butter” for the very first time since its record-breaking release last May 21.
“Top Social Artist” is one of the fan-voted categories in the Billboard Music Awards. The award is based on major fan interactions with music including streaming and social engagement, together with online voting results.
On a personal note, I have played “Butter” a total of almost 20 times since its release because of how addictive the track is. It surprised me because they keep on releasing songs that are far from what they do (just like how surprised I was with Idol and Dynamite). They always experiment with their sound.
I can say this because my cousin and I have been a fan of the group since their debut. We are stan ever since No More Dream and we’re actually very surprised at how they became mainstream in these past years. Of course, they deserve all the success in the world. However, we also lay low because of the toxic part of the fandom after their worldwide fame.
I’m extremely happy for the boys for the numerous accolades that they have received! I’m pretty sure they will continue to rock the world their music for many more years.
