Baguio City waives swab test for fully vaccinated tourists!

Baguio releases an updated list of requirements for travelers

The city’s local government declared that they now allow visitors who already received their full dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Instead of presenting a swab result, they can show vaccination cards as proof.

The LGU issued this notice in a Facebook post with an explanation from Baguio Tourism a day ago. The agency said that valid vaccination cards or certificates could serve as an alternative to a negative COVID-19 test result. On the other hand, travelers must still observe strict health protocols during their stay in the city.

What are the steps to visit Baguio for fully-vaccinated individuals?

Before their trip, vaccinated visitors should pre-register at this website to secure a tourist pass with a QR code. Note that the city limits the entry to 3,000 travelers per day, on a first-come-first-served basis. The first step is creating an account, then schedule your visit.  After that, upload a copy of your valid ID. Make sure that you completed this step at least 24 hours before traveling.

Upon arrival in Baguio, they must undergo first a mandatory triage. Depending on the information they provided during registration, those with yellow or purple QTPs shall be escorted to the John Hay Triage or Central Triage. Meanwhile, those with blue QTPs may go straight to their hotels, which have their own triage.

According to the city government, they are allowing this for all ages. However, they must be coming from GCQ and MGCQ areas. There’s also a reminder that they are only considering individuals who receive their second dose of the vaccine as fully vaccinated.

The government’s pandemic task force has eased rules on the interzonal travel of fully-vaccinated persons, including senior citizens. Interzonal travel refers to the movement between provinces, highly urbanized cities, and independent component cities under different community quarantine classifications.
