Ang Walang Kwentang Podcast and What Its Like Being a Ka-Eme

During the onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic, just like others, I am desperate of finding new hobbies and interests that will pique my mind. And after many random scrolls on Spotify, I came across the podcast Ang Walang Kwentang Podcast. The said podcast was hosted by two acclaimed Filipino directors Antoinette Jadaone and JP Habac.

Ang Walang Kwentang Podcast, a Deep Dive on What Its Like Being a Ka-Eme

After listening to their podcast, I became easily hooked on it. It is as if I am eavesdropping on my bestie’s chikahans and I get to have a VIP seat in hearing their teas in life. Their topics revolved around love, pop culture, current trends, and of course, their life as a director in the Philippines.

As a person who once dreamt of becoming an Iska at the University of the Philippines, it is a heartwarming experience to hear them talk about their experiences at UP. Just by listening to their podcast, I feel extremely proud of how far they have come. As they say, from grepa to nakaluwag-luwag.

Ang Walang Kwentang Podcast After-Podcast Tsikahan

I am proud to say that I am a certified Ka-Eme. Not solely because I enjoy eavesdropping on their hilarious conversations but because I feel extremely connected to them and to their fans, to my fellow Ka-Eme.

We have a private Facebook group named Ang Walang Kwentang Podcast After-Podcast Tsikahan and members of this group can pour their hearts out. And not like other fandoms or Barkadahan that would tolerate your wrongdoings, this group will slap you right in your face if they know that you are the one at fault. There is no sugarcoating in this family, ka-eme.

Sharing Memoirs of One Another

I like to listen to their podcast during my alone time. And by alone time, I mean when I am washing the dishes and doing household chores. My family would raise their brows whenever I would chuckle on my own not knowing that I am listening to AWKP.

Direk Tonette and Direk JP love to share their memories from the past through different Memz playlists in their podcast namely: College Memz, Raket Pa More: A Shooting and Taping Memoir, Panaginip Memz, and my favorite, the Grepa Memz.

Sta. Jolens, Sta. Angge & Sta. Lina

From time to time, Direk Tonette and Direk JP read aloud some letters from Ka-Eme through a Google form sheet. Here, they are free to talk about their problems and to seek help or some real talk from the two directors.

However, each letter differs from one another depending on the topic. If it involves love problems, Sta. Jolens, derived from Jolina Magdangal, will be their patron saint of the day. Sta. Angge – Angelica Panganiban, is reserved for those problems that involve sex or intimate problems, especially for couples. And lastly, Sta. Lina – derived from Lina of Job Street, are for those who are seeking advice for their professional life or career.

The Ang Walang Kwentang Podcast is not just a source of entertainment for me. Above all else, I found a community that shares the same interest and views of life as me. My Mondays and Thursdays will never be the same without listening to my go-to podcast, AWKP.
