Agosto Manzano aka ‘ordinarytito’ — The Tito Song Translator on Tiktok

It is common to see TikTokers cover songs or promote their original compositions on TikTok. In a bracket of random talented people, Agosto Manzano decided to go against the current and follow a unique flow. Now, he is famously known as ‘@ordinarytito‘, translating songs from English to Filipino and vice versa.

‘Just another Tito lost in TikTok Universe’ – Agosto Manzano (@ordinarytito)

With over 1.1 million likes on his TikTok, he has almost a hundred thousand followers with 71.6k. His contents are mostly him translating songs, therefore creating his unique rendition. This, in turn, earns him even more followers who love his original take on both old and famous songs. And he always gets tons of cover requests through the comments.

There is more to Agosto than just his amazing talent to translate songs. Paired it with a soulful voice, and he makes a covered song his own. It is the way he creates a whole new vibe with the songs that lures the audience in. Such talent is one that deserves more attention and admiration.

Moreover, as a new follower myself, I’ve rounded up a list of my favorite cover songs by ‘ordinarytito‘.

My personal favourites from his #SongTranslations

1. Walang Kapalit by Rey Valera (English Ver.)

First, Walang Kapalit the English version. What I especially love about this is the trivia he imparted before he began to sing. According to one of the comments, it was the late comedian, Enrique ‘Ike’ Lozada who actually requested Mr Rey Valera to write a composition with such a beautiful theme.

2. Maybe by Neocolours (Filipino Ver.)

Second, on my list is Maybe the Filipino version. Aside from this being one of my favourite songs, there is something about the emotions that are felt in Agosto’s voice. Furthermore, I knew it was a sad song, definitely, but I never thought I would find it soothing.

3. Forevermore by Jed Madela (Filipino Ver.)

Let’s agree to disagree that sometimes, Filipino lyrics just hit differently. Everything I haven’t felt in a while, I felt while listening to this one. I couldn’t stress this enough, but his voice is amazing. Thanks to this cover, Forevermore is officially back on my fave list.

4. Tilaluha by SB19 (English Ver.)

As an A’TIN, my heart is full after hearing this version. If I love the original song, I most definitely can’t hate the translated one. Agosto also stated that he is an A’TIN himself, so I guess it is another win for the fandom.

On the whole, I couldn’t possibly include all the amazing versions Agosto made in one writing. But I suggest you go check out his TikTok account and revel in the beauty of his renditions.

Let us also be clear, before this ends, that translations aren’t taken word by word. Take note that not all words in a specific language have a direct equivalent in another language. And what Agosto did was find the meaning and context of each line in the song and translated the thought. It takes time and patience, even that in itself is already admirable.
