VP/Tech Review | realme 13 Pro 5G: First Impressions
Spicing things up right after the realme 12 4G, realme Philippines unveils their newest midrange offering: the realme 13 Pro 5G. Acclaimed as the “DSLR in your Pocket,” the realme 13 Pro 5G comes with upgraded cameras, artistic design, and useful AI features.
But right before its official launch on August 28, let’s first look at what you can expect from this device. In this edition of VP/Tech, we’ll be discussing our first impressions of the realme 13 Pro 5G.
Design and Build
The realme 13 Pro 5G comes in two colorways: Monet Purple, and Emerald Green. As you can probably tell, the Monet Purple color was heavily inspired by the French painter, Oscar-Claude Monet’s works. Meanwhile, the Emerald Green variant sports a premium vegan leather back.
While you can feel the phone’s weight upon holding it, it doesn’t feel like a workout. Weighing only 185.5g for the Emerald Green and 190g for the Monet Purple, the phone feels nice and luxurious to hold.
In terms of display, it boasts a 6.7” Curved OLED Display that can go up to 120Hz refresh rate. With a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, this phone encountered no issues being used indoors or outdoors—directly under the sun.
Camera
But let’s be real, y’all are here because of its cameras. Being the “DSLR in your Pocket,” let’s discuss our initial experience with the realme 13 Pro 5 G cameras.
The realme 13 Pro 5G boasts a 50MP Sony LYT-600 OIS Camera, an 8MP Ultra-Wide Camera, and a 32MP Sony Selfie Camera. Moreover, realme has also integrated new AI photography technologies into its camera system.
It has this new AI HyperRAW Algorithm capable of manipulating light and shadows within the photos.
To make your portraits look more professional, it also has an AI Portrait algorithm that gives the photos a natural bokeh effect by identifying foreground, midground, and background in the image.
Upon initial testing of its cameras, the phone delivered detailed and high-quality photos in just a click. It even has a nice depth-of-field without going into its portrait mode. Although it’s too early to make conclusions about its cameras, the realme 13 Pro 5G is reeking with potential.
Performance
As for its performance, the realme 13 Pro 5G comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor. Based on our initial usage, overall performance seems smooth and enjoyable especially if you’re just a casual user.
Additionally, it offers up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage that’s ideal in 2024. Given the potential of its cameras, this storage allows for a worry-free photo-taking experience anytime and anywhere.
For its battery and charging, the phone supports a 45W SUPERVOOC Charge and packs a 5200mAh battery.
Initial Thoughts
As of our initial testing, the realme 13 Pro 5G delivers top-notch photos paired with multiple AI innovations. It achieves fluid performance, especially for casual users who want to feel what midrange phones in 2024 could do.
As of now, it looks like it has the potential to become a top-notch midrange camera phone, worthy of being your “DSLR in your Pocket.” Stay tuned to all realme social media pages for all announcements regarding the “DSLR in your pocket.”
