Thai Rice Takes Center Stage at WOFEX 2025
Thai rice set to impress at the World Food Expo (WOFEX) 2025, taking place from August 6 to 9, 2025, at the SMX Convention Center in Manila. The “THINK RICE, THINK THAILAND: We serve the Best Quality Rice to the World” campaign will be prominently featured at Booth No. 1075 in Hall 4, showcasing the superior quality and diverse flavors of Thai rice varieties.
This event highlights Thailand’s commitment to sharing its rich culinary heritage. The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) and the Department of Foreign Trade (DFT) under the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand, through the Thai Trade Center in Manila, are proudly supporting the initiative.
The official opening of the booth marked by a distinguished ribbon-cutting ceremony. VIPs in attendance (From left to right) included Mr. Chookiat Ophaswongse, Honorary President of Thai Rice Exporters Association; Ms. Sutinee Vathana, Director of the Thai Trade Center in Manila; H.E. Mrs. Makawadee Sumitmor, The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of the Philippines; Mrs. Chanintorn Rimcharone, Deputy Director – General of Department of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce in Thailand; and Mr. Joel Pascual, President of PEPTarsus Corp.
Strengthening Economic Ties
The ceremony underscored Thailand’s dedication to promoting its premium rice in the Philippine market, aiming to strengthen economic ties between the two nations.
Ms. Sutinee Vathana, Director of the Thai Trade Center Manila, expressed her excitement about showcasing premium Thai rice at WOFEX 2025. She stated that the “Think Rice Think Thailand” campaign is more than just about promoting rice; it’s about sharing a piece of Thai culture and heritage with Filipino friends. She emphasized that Thailand’s participation signifies the strong relationship between the two countries and expressed anticipation for even stronger economic and cultural connections. Ms. Vathana also highlighted Thailand’s readiness to be a dependable partner for the Philippines, especially amidst global challenges such as climate change and inflation.
The booth will feature an extensive selection of premium Thai rice, including fragrant Thai Hom Mali rice, renowned for its soft, long grains, delicate floral aroma, and exceptional taste. Visitors will also find Thai white rice and other varieties. Exclusive prices offered by Thai rice exporters and Philippine importers during the event, providing a great opportunity for attendees to purchase the finest ones to elevate their home cooking. Additionally, a wide array of Thai rice-based products will be available for exploration.
Beyond the showcase of rice and rice products, the booth will host engaging cooking demonstrations by accredited Thai SELECT restaurants from Manila. These demonstrations will allow visitors to witness talented chefs transform simple ingredients into exquisite culinary creations using it, offering an immersive Thai dining experience.
