TECH/REVIEW | Zooming into the details of the OPPO Find X9

The OPPO Find X9 caught my attention the moment I picked it up—not because it’s trying too hard, but because it carries a certain quiet presence. It feels intentionally designed, almost like OPPO wanted to build a phone that blends into your life and style, while elevating it. From the materials to the curves, from the camera to the display, there’s an immediate sense that this device was made for people who likes detail without needing to be told why it matters.

Over the past two weeks, I’ve carried it everywhere: hotel rooms, cafes, shoots, late-night drives, even a couple of accidental downpours. And what I’ve discovered is a phone that seems designed for detail. Those small, thoughtful touches that matter when you’re someone who depends on your phone for both work and personal style.

Let me zoom in on what stood out in this edition of VP/Tech.

Build

The Find X9 comes in Titanium Grey and Space Black, both options feel like they were curated for people who take design seriously. I went with Space Black because it’s the kind of black that looks like it belongs next to tailored suits and minimalist workspaces, which personally fulfills the fantasy.

The first thing I noticed? The bezels, or rather, the lack of them.

OPPO’s 1.15 mm uniform ultra-thin bezels are one of those details you don’t think matter until you see them. The edge-to-edge effect is stunning, giving the front of the phone a clean, almost liquid look. It’s subtle, but the moment you go back to another phone with chunkier bezels, you feel it.

Then there’s the Customizable Snap Key—a small button with big potential. I mapped mine to the camera because that’s the tool I reach for the most, but it can launch pretty much anything you want: the AI Mind Space, translation, torch, recorder, or simple system controls. And honestly, I appreciate that I can also leave it unassigned, because let’s admit it, sometimes we like to take the longer route we’re already used to.

Durability-wise, the Find X9 feels like OPPO tried to eliminate excuses. IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings—basically the trifecta of water and dust protection—paired with an aerospace-grade aluminum frame. This is the kind of phone you don’t have to baby. Mine survived being shoved into an overstuffed bag, a splash of rain, and even a quick dip in the pool.

Display

If the build is the frame, the display is the artwork.

The Find X9 features a 6.59-inch 120Hz ProXDR display with a peak brightness of 3600 nits, and I cannot overstate how much this matters when scrolling outdoors. At noon in Manila, under unforgiving sunlight.

Where most screens start fading into grey, the Find X9 punches through. Colors stay vibrant, text stays crisp, and you just see everything.

The 120Hz refresh rate makes the entire experience feel responsive in a way that’s almost tactile. Scrolling X while half-awake, zooming through spreadsheets on the go, or checking edits frame by frame—everything is fluid and snappy. Even at minimum brightness in a dark car or a dim room, it still feels soft on the eyes.

This display is made for people who live on their phones and expect them to keep up.

Camera

Let’s talk about the part that really made me fall for the Find X9: the Hasselblad Master Camera System. I’m not saying this lightly, this camera setup feels like carrying a compact creative studio in your pocket.

It has triple 50 MP cameras: a 50MP Pro-level main camera with an ultra-large aperture, a 50MP periscope telephoto with OPPO’s Triple Prism Lens, and a 50MP ultra-wide with excellent distortion control.

The main camera captures 57 percent more light than the previous generation, and it shows. Night photos have texture, not mush. Its dynamic range feels natural and not overprocessed, while colors are rich without looking like it overcompensates for the lack of quality..

But the real standout for me is the periscope telephoto. The combo of the large sensor, 3x optical zoom, and 6x lossless zoom gives you clarity that still surprises me every time I pinch in. Portraits feel intentional and cinematic, and the color accuracy—thanks to Hasselblad’s True Color Camera tech and the LUMO Image Engine—stays consistent across all lenses.

And then there’s the 120x Super Zoom. I won’t pretend I use it every day, but it’s wild how much detail you can pull from a skyline, a stage, or even a mountain ridge on a road trip.

If you’re someone who travels, documents fashion, or simply loves capturing life as it happens, the Find X9 gives you tools that feel professional without needing any professional skill to use them.

Performance and Storage

Under the hood, the Find X9 runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 9500, paired with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Specs aside, what matters to me is that it doesn’t choke—not when I’m switching between editing apps, not when I’m on back-to-back calls, not when I’m juggling music, GPS, and email simultaneously.

ColorOS 16 continues that feel of refinement. It’s clean, light, and gets out of the way. The seamless animations are exactly that: no stutters, no weird transitions, not much bloat slowing things down. Everything feels cohesive in a way that mirrors the hardware’s minimal elegance.

You can even play a wide array of games from Mobile Legends: Bang Bang to Genshin Impact without significantly losing brain cells over frame drops and lag. Talk about being an all-rounder.

Battery

A feature I didn’t expect to appreciate as much as I did is the 7,025 mAh silicon-carbon battery. The capacity alone is impressive, but the real win is how long it actually lasts. I’ve gone from early morning meetings to late-night editing sessions without looking for a charger, something I can’t say for most flagships.

When I do need juice, 80W SUPERVOOC charging gets me from “Oh no” to “I’m good” in less than half an hour.

Overall Thoughts

The OPPO Find X9 doesn’t scream for attention, which is perhaps why it deserves it. It feels like a phone designed for people who care about detail—for those who see their device as both a work tool and a lifestyle accessory.

It’s refined but not boring. Powerful but not aggressive. Stylish without trying too hard with quirks.

If you’re a business professional who juggles intensive tasks, a fashion-forward creative who wants a phone that aligns with your aesthetic, or simply someone who appreciates a device that’s both beautiful and capable, the Find X9 fits that space perfectly. It’s a flagship that earns its place in your life—not by shouting, but by doing everything exceptionally well.
