Parakemama: Vivid, Emotion-Filled Tribute to Mother’s Love

Following the deeply personal and evocative success of Di Magmaliw, and after five years, contemporary artist Ed Lorenzo returns with another poignant collection that delves into the essence of love, nurture, and memory. His latest series, Parakemama, is a heartfelt homage to the profound and unwavering love of a mother—an artistic exploration of the bond between a mother and her child.

This evocative series is a tribute to the boundless love and sacrifice of mothers, told through the fluid, expressive strokes of his signature technique.

In this collection, Lorenzo introduces the first three pieces: Sinapupunan (Womb), Hele (Lullaby), and Kanlungan (Shelter). These initial works encapsulate the formative years of his relationship with his mother, embodying the warmth, security, and unconditional love she provided. Each piece serves as a visual poem, articulating the warmth, protection, and devotion that define maternal love.

Mother’s Love

Rendered in acrylic through the meticulous technique of fluid art manipulation with glue and resin, each painting in Parakemama pulsates with movement, depth, and emotion. The swirling hues and intricate patterns mirror the organic and ever-evolving nature of a mother’s love—fluid yet enduring, delicate yet strong. Through this technique, Lorenzo captures the intangible: the tenderness of a lullaby, the protection of a mother’s embrace, and the sacredness of the womb that first nurtured life.

For Lorenzo, this series is not merely a visual representation but a deeply personal narrative—a chronicle of love expressed through color, texture, and movement. The artist’s signature approach to fluid art manipulation allows him to create works that are both immersive and deeply introspective, encouraging viewers to reflect on their own maternal connections.

Parakemama is my love letter to my mother. Each piece embodies the memories and emotions tied to her presence in my life. I want people to feel the comfort, warmth, and love that I felt growing up under her care,” shares Lorenzo.
