Monde Nissin Drives a Greener Future with Electric Bread Delivery and Entrepreneur Empowerment

Monde Nissin Corporation is strengthening its commitment to sustainability and inclusive economic development through a forward-looking initiative that reimagines bread distribution using electric vehicles (EVs) and empowers local Filipino entrepreneurs—known as salespreneurs.

“With Monde Fresh Express, we’re proving that we can deliver growth while also delivering cleaner air, greener cities, and more inclusive opportunities for Filipinos,” said Henry Soesanto, CEO of Monde Nissin Corporation.  “Sustainability is not a side initiative for us — it is at the core of how we grow responsibly.”

Through this initiative, Monde Fresh Express is redefining last-mile delivery by transitioning to a cleaner, more responsive distribution model. The adoption of electric vans not only lowers carbon emissions and reduces noise pollution but also enables high-frequency, multi-stop servicing ideally suited for dense urban environments.

“This project is a clear example of how business and social value can intersect. By optimizing logistics through clean transport, we’re also unlocking opportunities for sustainable entrepreneurship. Monde Fresh Express embodies our commitment to ‘Making Better Possible’—driving business growth while creating positive change for people and the planet.” – Rizza Cajucom-Uy, Chief Sustainability Officer, Monde Nissin Corporation

As of July, salespreneurs are operating under the new model with a pilot test in Luzon. Monde Nissin aims to expand further, additional entrepreneur-dealers are set to onboard this August. The company is seeing growing interest from local partners and communities, signaling strong potential for scaled impact.

Minimizing Food Waste Through Agile Servicing

The initiative also addresses a long-standing industry challenge: bread spoilage. Due to the short shelf life inherent to baked goods, unsold inventory remains a challenge in retail channels. “Reducing food waste is one of the most immediate ways we can make a difference for both the planet and people. Monde Fresh Express helps ensure that every loaf baked has the best chance to nourish a Filipino household,” added Rizza Cajucom-Uy.

With Monde Fresh Express, salespreneurs serve designated territories more frequently and reach multiple alternative consumer touchpoints, increasing freshness and availability while reducing food waste. This responsive servicing model not only benefits consumers but also enhances the profitability and sustainability of micro-entrepreneurs.

Clean Transport Powering Inclusive Growth

To support this transformation, Monde Nissin has deployed a fleet of electric vans for its urban delivery routes. These vehicles supplied and supported by a trusted BYD dealer in the north and are well-suited for short-haul, high-frequency deliveries.

Delivering on a Broader Sustainability Vision

This initiative aligns with Monde Nissin’s overarching environmental strategy, which includes a north star goal of reducing Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas intensity from manufacturing operations by 50% by 2025. The company’s bread manufacturing facilities already run on 100% renewable energy, and the introduction of EVs into its fleet builds on this progress.

Toward a Resilient, Inclusive Future

More than just a logistics innovation, Monde Fresh Express serves as a platform for social impact—expanding direct-to-consumer access, enabling community entrepreneurship, and building resilient, future-ready ecosystems.

With full implementation planned later this year, Monde Nissin continues to drive transformation that delivers better products, better lives, and a better planet.
