Herlene Budol reveals a ‘backup’ national costume for Miss Planet International
It’s definitely sad that Herlene Budol didn’t get to shine at Miss Planet International. Considering this was supposed to be her first international pageant, many fans were excited to see what she had prepared. This includes her wardrobe, particularly her long gown and of course, her national costume.
Slowly recovering from the pageant’s dismaying turn of events, Herlene is now finally ready to give us some behind-the-scenes tea.
On Monday, December 5, Herlene shared online what she refers to as her “Plan B” national costume. Through her Instagram, she posted photos of the outfit along with the caption that reads:
“Eto yung Plan B na National Costume na dapat isusuot ko sa Uganda Since na disgrasya ng Ethiopian Airline ang unang preparasyon namin “Karitela ng Kalabaw” by Patrick Isorena.”
In case you didn’t know, her original costume was, unfortunately, damaged upon its arrival in Uganda.
A creation of designer Marbin Garcia, her alternative costume features a beautiful Filipiniana dress as well as a decorative headpiece. Furthermore, Herlene explains that the ensemble comes with a big ball that lights up. This is meant to represent the Pearl of the Orient Sea.
Miss Planet International is set to continue its competition next year, moving its venue from Uganda to Cambodia. However, the pageant will push through without Herlene’s participation.
Withdrawing last November, Herlene has also recently confirmed that she is already retiring from pageantry. In her short journey, along with her appointment as Miss Planet Philippines 2022, she is also the reigning 1st runner-up at Binibining Pilipinas.
