Filipino Ube Liquor Cream — Wins at 2022 World Liqueur Awards
From humble Ube to a champion liquor in the world. Here’s how they got the World’s Best Cream at World’s Liqueur Awards with the use of ube.
World’s Best Cream
The head distiller of Destileria Barako, Brendan Green, is the man behind the success of Ube Cream Liqueur as the World’s Best Cream. He shared their secret about their recent achievement in an exclusive interview with Philstar.
“Teamwork. Honestly, it’s teamwork. It is chasing your dreams. It is literally not sort of sitting down and saying that’s enough. It’s actually going that extra step to see what else you can do. Pushing the boundaries,” Green said in the interview with Philstar.
Green also express how running and owning a distillery really push those boundaries on the path that they can actually push and do.
Moreover, Chef Kalel Demetrio explains that Ube Cream Liqueur is obviously made with ube, full cream, and sugar cane vodka from Negros. All Filipino, made by Filipino.
Behind the Success of Ube Cream Liquor
According to Green, this concept just came around when Kalel is just playing around with the ideas and they eventually push it forward. Also, the product took a lot of trial and error to work. However, the team that he described as “unbelievable”, makes it possible.
In fact, Ube Cream Liquor received awards last year. It won as Philippine First Product Innovation honors at the 2021 SIP Awards in California and received a Double Gold.
From being just stapled ingredients for desserts, Ube became booze that nobody was ready for. Let’s keep supporting our local products. And you can try this Ube Cream Liquor and it is available in Agimat at Ugat Bar and Kitchen located in Poblacion Makati. #TatakPinoy
