Indeed, it’s another day for Filipinos to celebrate with Belle Mariano representing the country at an international award-giving body.

On September 22, Mariano attended the 17th Seoul International Drama Awards, where she received the prize of Outstanding Asian Star. She was proclaimed one of the winners earlier this month after leading the global votes from fans in a virtual voting period held in August.

Mariano deservingly won the title for her iconic performance as the female lead in “He’s Into Her.” In this hit drama for two seasons, she starred with her onscreen partner, Donny Pangilinan

Meanwhile, Wallace Chung of China, Yusei Yagi of Japan, Alice Ko of Taiwan, and Krit Amnuaydechkorn of Thailand triumphed in the same accolade.

Seoul International Drama Awards, or SDA, is a yearly awarding ceremony in South Korea. The premise dedicates to honoring brilliance and excellence in television drama production worldwide.

Previous Filipino artists who graced the SDA are Alden Richards and Dingdong Dantes. Both clinched the Asian Star Prize in 2019 and 2020, respectively. Thus, in history, Mariano is the first and only Filipina to be given this prestigious recognition.

On social media, fans and the casuals highly appreciated Mariano’s look and attendance. The tagline BELLE MARIANO MAKES HISTORY went trending on Twitter with over 11k tweets.

Mariano expressed sincere gratitude to her loved ones, colleagues, management, and fans in her acceptance speech. She also mentioned Pangilinan, with whom she shared the honor of joining her in an “amazing journey.”

Congratulations, and thank you for making us proud, Belle!
