5 Things I Miss About Going To Live Concerts
I miss live concerts. Aside from going out and meeting my friends, I miss going to concert the most. Concerts made me feel the happiest. It made me forget problems for a while. It’s always a magical experience. From the moment the artist unveiled their tour dates to ticketing day to the concert date and of course the post-concert depression.
Unfortunately, the pandemic widely affected live events in general. Since most of the time, it will be held in an arena or coliseum. Everything became uncertain. Some artists do online concerts or fan meetings. But, it does not feel the same.

Freebies
When they say concert day, it’s literally a whole day. Even though the event was most likely to start by 6 pm, most fans were already at the venue area 6 or more hours earlier. Outside the venue, your co-fandoms are giving away some freebies. It may be a photo card, T-shirt, headband, sticker sheets, slogan, album, food, drinks, and anything with the face of the idol. Most of the time a stan account will post the giveaway location on Twitter.
That very moment the concert starts
Of course, this is the highlight of every concert experience. Before the concert starts, you will hear loud cheers from the fans. It’s a mixed feeling when the opening music starts to play. The moment where the artists you only hear on Spotify is now right there in front of you. The feeling where it does not matter whatever ticket you are holding as long as you are in the same place as them. It’s magical and feels surreal. Some might get teary-eyed. Enjoy every moment.
Fan chants
Each song has its own fan chant guide. I miss this as this is a connection between the fan and the artist. Fan chants are most likely composed of some parts of the song plus the members’ names. Pinoy fans have their own kind of fan chant. Well, it’s more like singing the whole song. Fans sing along with the artist. They sing their hearts out loud.
Fan projects
This is somehow an emotional moment. Fans usually surprise the artists to express their appreciation of the artist. one of the most common fan project is the hand banner project. The fanbases usually give every concertgoer a banner with a message for the artist. They will raise the banner on a particular song. Aside from that, I also look forward to the video presentation. The video may show the journey of the group and some video greetings for them. It was usually played towards the end of the concert. Fans also provide food support for the artist and staff.
Encore – Walang uuwi
Walang uuwi! The sad thing about the concert is it lasts for about two hours. Realizations will hit you like it will take time to see them again. Two hours is never enough! Filipino fans always shout “Walang Uuwi” before and after the encore. Encore is the last part of the concert, some artists will perform what the fans are requesting. This is also the time where the confetti will pop. They will be saying their last message to their fans for that night. And just like that, they will slowly wave their hands as they exit the stage.
Seems we will be waiting a bit longer for the next one. For now #TeamBahay muna tayo.
