You Know It’s A Good K-Drama When Kim Won-Hae Is In It

Was there ever a time when you were watching a K-drama and thought to yourself, “I know this guy! I’ve seen him in other dramas.”

I assume there is because I have had similar experiences in the past. However, one person, in particular, drew my attention. When Kim Won-hae is in it, I know it’s a great Korean drama.

How can I say so?  Here are a few K-drama shows in which he has appeared that you should check out.

While You Were Sleeping

His Character: In the 2017 drama, Kim Won-hae plays criminal investigator Choi Dam Dong, the brother of the soldier who killed Jae-chan’s (Lee Jong-suk) father, and the police officer who rescued him.

The Plot: While you were sleeping focuses on the story of three young adults who acquired the ability to see future events through their dreams. Kim Won-hae worked with actors Lee Jong-suk, Jung Hae-in, the drama’s leading lady, Bae Suzy, and the other cast members.

Start-Up (2020 South Korean Drama)

His Character: Kim Won-hae plays the character Nam Sung-hwan, Nam Do-san’s (Nam Joo Hyuk) Father and the first investor in Samsan Tech. Although Nam Sung-hwan appears to be mad at his son due to his unsuccessful start-up inventions, Sung-hwan still supports his son.

The Plot: The 2020 drama, Start-Up, follows the story of a woman who aspires to be an entrepreneur by trying to begin her start-up. The complicated story of Seo Dal-mi (Bae Suzy) began when her grandmother asked Han Ji-pyeong, an orphan, to write letters to Dal-mi and help her get over her father’s death. Years later, Dal-mi met her first love, the letter sender, and another man who pretends to be the person behind the letters. The Actor Kim Won-hae worked with other popular South Korean actors, such as Nam Joo-Hyuk, Kim Seon-Ho, Bae Suzy, Won In-jae, and many more.

Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth (2016-2017 South Korean Drama)

His Character: In the 2016-2017 drama, Kim Won-hae portrayed the character Woo Reuk who appeared like a peasant in the previous episodes. It turns out that Woo Reuk is popularly known as the master of instruments. He then showed how great he is when he assisted the Hwarang with their second assignment which is to give a dance in front of Queen Jiso. 

The Plot: Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth revolves around Hwarang (Flowering Knights)–an elite group of male youth known for their great appearances and aristocratic family background. After being trained to defend the Kingdom of Silla, the youth discovered passion, friendship, and love. Kim Won-hae worked with Go A-ra, Park Hyung-sik, Park Seo-joon, Kim Taehyung, Do Ji-han, Choi Min-ho, Cho Yoon-woo, and other star-studded actors.

Strong Woman Do Bong-soon (2017 South Korean Drama)

His Character: Kim Won-hae amazingly played two characters in the drama Strong Woman Do Bong-soon. In the previous episodes, Won-hae played the role Kim Kwang-Bok, a gangster who experienced Do Bong-soon’s superhuman powers after provoking her. His other role was Oh Dol-byung, an employee in Min Hyuk’s (Park Hyung-sik) gaming company, a gay character who has a crush with Min Hyuk.

The Plot: Born with superhuman power passed along to women in her family, Do Bong-soon (Park Bo-young) embraced her strength and decided to use it when needed to achieve her dream of creating a video game with herself as the character. Ahn Min-hyuk (Park Hyung-sik) hires Bong-soon as his personal bodyguard.

These are just a few of his popular dramas that you should have also seen. Kim Won-hae also took part in other dramas such as Are You Human Too?Melting me softly, Run On, Youth of May, Hotel del Luna, and many more. There is no doubt that the actor Kim Won-hae deserves to be known as a scene stealer in a good way. Now, aside from the main characters of each drama, he appeared in, Kim Won-hae also lives in our hearts rent-free.
