Commencement of Negroni Week

Negroni Week 2023 goes beyond social gatherings and revelry with friends during the evening while sipping drinks. This event has a more profound mission: it aims to generate funds for charitable causes on a global scale. Its inception in 2013 involved a modest 120 participating venues, but it has since expanded exponentially, now encompassing thousands worldwide. To date, this initiative has successfully generated over $4 million in support of charitable organizations.

Embracing Negroni Week 2023

This year, Campari will celebrate the enduring bonds that strengthen and foster relationships within the industry and among its consumers. Moreover, Slow Food has been designated as the official partner for Negroni Week because the organization is dedicated to tackling sustainability, education, equity, and diversity, with a particular emphasis on hospitality, culinary arts, and beverages.

Furthermore, Slow Food boasts a worldwide footprint, with chapters and initiatives established in numerous nations and urban centers across the globe. Remarkably, it traces its origins to Italy, the birthplace of the Negroni.

Embracing Negroni Week 2023

We had the pleasure of attending the opening celebration of Negroni Week at Out of Office in BGC on September 18th. It was a delightful opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces and, naturally, to make new acquaintances, all gathered not just for relaxation but also to support a meaningful cause.

At this event, we had the chance to savor three exclusive Campari cocktails for Negroni: the Negroni Classic, Paid Leave, and Nocciola Amara Spritz. It’s worth noting that these drinks masterfully combine flavors, achieving the perfect balance of ingredients and alcohol content.

To provide further insights, Negroni is an Italian cocktail that blends equal parts of gin, vermouth rosso (red, semi-sweet vermouth), and Campari, garnished with a twist of orange peel. Its simplicity and harmonious flavor profile have cemented the Negroni’s status as one of Italy’s most renowned cocktails, gracing the menus of the world’s most prestigious bars.

The Birth of the Negroni

Going back to 1919 in Florence, the creation of the Negroni cocktail is credited to Fosco Scarselli, who served it at his bar, Café Casoni. The drink’s inception came about when the esteemed Count Camilo Negroni desired a more potent rendition of his beloved Americano cocktail, replacing soda water with a splash of gin. Notably, Scarselli opted for an orange slice garnish instead of the typical lemon twist, giving rise to the Negroni as we know it today.

Negroni Challenge with Local Partners

In 2023, Negroni Week will host a local competition involving its official partners. The establishment that achieves the highest Negroni sales during the week-long celebration will be awarded a prize of Fifty Thousand Pesos.
