Former Pinay beauty queen is competing for Miss Universe Germany 2023
Seven years after her last stint in the world of pageantry, ex-Miss Philippines Earth 2016 Imelda Schweighart returns to the limelight as she attempts at another shot at the crown – this time, however, in a different country.
Pursuing the opportunity to participate in an international competition once again, the 28-year-old beauty queen and singer is setting her eyes in winning the title of Miss Universe Germany 2023.

Through a social media post on June 15, Miss Universe Germany announces Imelda as an official candidate for the pageant. As a mother, herself, Imelda is a prime advocate for empowering single parents.
Through her “Single Parent Focus” project, Imelda aims to “Make single parenthood part of society as a respectable category instead of seeing it as a lowly status.”

Imelda first burst into the pageant scene by competing at Binibining Pilipinas in 2013 where she placed as a semifinalist. She would then join Miss Philippines Earth three years later, eventually winning the title.
Prior and during Miss Earth 2016, Imelda made headlines due to her “controversial behavior”. Most notably, she accused eventual winner, Katherine Espin of undergoing cosmetic surgery. Imelda – who failed to place in the Top 16 – would resign as Miss Philippines Earth 2016 after the competition.
Miss Universe Germany 2023 will be taking place on July 15 with Soraya Kohlmann crowning her successor. If she wins, Imelda will be competing alongside fellow Filipina Michelle Dee at Miss Universe 2023 in El Salvador.
