Steve Harvey will no longer host the Miss Universe Pageant

Ahead of its forthcoming competition, Miss Universe has reportedly ended its contract with both FOX and Steve Harvey.

According to a report released by Variety, it was Miss Universe Organization (MUO) CEO Amy Emmerich that made the statement. Explaining that it is aligned with her goal of directing the pageant through “a female lens”. This is why it is expected that a new female host will be announced in the coming weeks.

Since 2015, Steve Harvey has hosted the Miss Universe pageant. It was also the same year that he gained notoriety for the infamous blunder, hailed as one of the most awkward and embarrassing fails in pageant history.

It pertains to Steve incorrectly declaring Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the winner instead of Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.

Meanwhile, for the first time in its history, Miss Universe will be shifting its broadcast from TV to streaming. Also confirmed by Emmerich, the pageant’s 71st edition will be coming live through the platform, ROKU.

Emmerich states that this move will cater to more audiences thus expanding the pageant’s reach and distribution.

With less than 40 days to go, Miss Universe will continue to release new updates that definitely entice the fans. The pageant will be taking place in New Orleans on January 14.
