LOOK: Supportive kuya makes stunning ball gown for his younger sister’s prom
A young man from Zamboanga had no experience in creating dress, not until he brought his creative imagination into life for her sister’s prom. To save money from renting, Maverick Francisco Oyao made his sister an elegant gown to wear in her JS prom.
Maverick, a Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education student, persisted in creating the gown to fulfill his younger sister Keanna’s wish to attend prom despite his lack of confidence. He shared how he finished the blue and white gown via Facebook with photos of her sister wearing the actual dress.
In his caption, he noted that he browsed the internet to find an inspiration from a well-known designer Michael Cinco. “I did not expect na magagawa ko to on time. I even doubted my self kung magagawa ko ba ‘to o hindi kasi naman ‘di ba, iba ang concept sa ginagawa na. But God is really good. ‘Di niya ako pinabayaan. At may isa na namang bunsong kapatid ang napasaya ni kuya,” he wrote.

He said he felt the urge to do it because they couldn’t afford to rent an expensive dress. “I’ve done my part very well as your supportive kuya and hinding-hindi ako magsasawa na suportahan ka pramis (promise) ni kuya mo ‘yan sa’yo,” he added.
Although his sister didn’t win the “Best Dressed” award, it was still the best one for Oyao since his sister is wearing his handmade gown. In fact, the posts went viral and earned admiration from the netizens.
“Sana mapalabas ‘to sa KMJS (Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho), grabe, habang binabasa ko, naiiyak ako hahahaa, supportive kuya,” a facebook user said.
“Somebody hire the kuya. C’mon, that is talent there,” another FB user commented.
