Believe it or not, I actually learned something from Mr. Bean
Whenever we hear Rowan Atkinson‘s name or even see his face, we would readily and easily call him Mr. Bean. The British comedian-actor portrayed the character for decades. Known for his adorably absurd antics, his humorous acts make people laugh. And, I can’t help but consider myself one of them. When my brother and I were little, Mr. Bean has become our favorite comedy series on television – even the animated one. I would always remember the excitement of going home from school just to catch up with the show at 4:30 in the afternoon.
Beyond the comedy, believe it or not, I actually learned something from Mr. Bean.
Mr. Bean has been teaching us for so long how important it is to live simply. His life wasn’t that complicated at all, with no problems — just pure happiness. I also came to realize that sometimes, being less is more. Mr. Bean teaches us how to easily appreciate and be contented with the things we have.
He possesses a great character that reminds us to just be true to ourselves. No judgments and no changes at all just to fit in with society. We all know how peculiar he is, yet he never changed himself just for everyone to love him. He confidently embraces his quirks and expresses whatever he wanted to express. More so, he also tells us that it’s okay to be different from others.
His patience and calmness with things won’t ever disappoint us. Mr. Bean’s demeanor especially in stressful situations teaches us that being calm and collected is very important. He also is a creative man, everyone knows that for sure.
His resourcefulness even at nonsense things that are sometimes so funny inspires us to always find innovative solutions right away. It also teaches us to always think outside the box and go out of our comfort zones to grow better.
After a series of episodes that I have watched since then, I also came to realize that it’s okay to be alone sometimes. Mr. Bean is always contented with his own company, well his Teddy is an exemption of course.
He loves and gives value to things that matter most to him.
Additionally, we can also see how he possesses the true meaning of “Action speaks louder than words.” Have you ever seen a particular episode where he went out without his teddy with him? Mr. Bean never said anything, but he never leave Teddy alone.
Although Mr. Bean can be selfish and self-centered at times, he also shows kindness and compassion towards others. His small acts of kindness remind us of the importance of being considerate and empathetic toward others.
Above all, Mr. Bean reminds us that “Laughter will always be the best medicine.” The fact that his main personality is through his silly antics and funny facial expressions expresses so many things. The importance of laughter and humor in each life really matters. Well, I guess just a simple smile and laughter can resolve something.
A lot of us for sure have shared laughter while watching him on screen. But this is a reminder that Mr. Bean himself isn’t just a typical comedian. He is something more.
