Teen shows that defined the 90s-2020s

Every generation has its own teen shows that defined its era from the 90s to 2000s. Each decade indeed is colorful, thanks to these shows that also give break to young artists with a lot of potential.

So for this article, allow me to take you on a trip down the memory lane and relieve the TV shows that defined

90’s: T.G.I.S.(GMA)

Friends? I only know TGIS bro!

These were your younger titos and titas’ staple favorites on the boob tube. You know it’s weekend already when you see this show on an afternoon and will make one scream: “Thank God It’s Sabado!”

After listening to Eraserheads and Rivermaya on NU 107, they will glue their eyes to the television and watch their favorite love teams and idols.

T.G.I.S. features an ensemble of then-young artists who eventually became 90’s icons of GMA. Who could forget the chemistry of Wacks and Peachy portrayed by Bobby Andrews and Angelu De Leon and the charming Red Stenberg? The show also featured the pairings of Dino Guevarra and Kim Delos Santos who also starred in Viva’s Honey My Love, So Sweet along with other TGIS stars Dingdong Dantes, Antonette Taus, Sunshine Dizon, and Polo Ravales.

And am I the only one who cried my eyeballs during their series finale?

2000’s: Click

Click was the TGIS of older millennials. This is where Angel Locsin and Richard Gutierrez started as a love team. Chard and Gel eventually became the faces of GMA with several TV series and movies under their names.

I remember as a child, my crush here was Alessandra De Rossi and Angel. My male idol was Richard. I even sported my hair to be pegged after him! And yes, I asked my kuyas back then to call the Click hotline. LOL!

Here are some trivias: Kapuso couple Iya Villannia and Drew Arellano met and fell in love during this show. Coco Martin and Pia Wurtzbach had their first T.V. appearances here on Click.

2010’s: Growing Up

Growing Up was the breakthrough series of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, one of the hottest Kapamilya loveteams known as KathNiel. It also cemented the popularity of Julia Montes after debuting in Mara Clara and filming No Way Home.

I will never forget the kilig scenes of Daniel and Kathryn here which made me a secret fan then of the two.

KathNiel ended up being pop culture icons of the 2010’s giving birth to several movies, films, albums and their eventual relationship in real life. Julia Montes on the other hand, became a very powerful actress in several dramas and movies.

2020’s: He’s Into Her

This series was an adaptation of the popular Wattpad book series of the same title written by Maxinejj. He’s Into Her featured young stars Donny Pangilinan, Belle Mariano, Jeremiah Lisbo, Vivoree, and more.

He’s Into Her was a total package. It has good soundtrack from BGYO’s He’s Into Her, Belle Mariano’s “Sigurado” which melted the hearts of millions. And folks, STOP ME! Donny and Belle gave us all a lot of kilig feels and laughter in this show. Who could forget the “Babu, Babu” scene between Belle and Jeremiah? Aside from that, the series also had a big online concert, and now a second season!!!

I THINK I’M INTO THIS SHOW AGAIN!
