Actor Donny Pangilinan is headlining a new short film pursuing awareness and shedding light on the issue of human trafficking, the ABS-CBN News reported.

The movie, written and directed by the international filmmaker Dean Colin Marcial, is titled “Graduation.” Including the 2017 thriller flick “Manila Death Squad, he is famed for works focusing on various societal concerns.

Furthermore, “Graduation” will center the narrative of a young woman (Nourijune Hooshmand) who undergoes depression after surviving human trafficking. With the aid of her brother, a role given to Donny, she will attempt to recover from her condition.

Through an article released by ABS-CBN, Donny shared more of his thoughts about his commitment to playing the character. According to the 24-year-old actor, he didn’t have to reconsider accepting the role as an advocate of anti-human trafficking.

“When Dean accepted to go through this project alongside Nour, it’s not something I had to think twice about. I specifically chose to do this,” Donny explained. Additionally, he believes that the movie is something they need to do.

Meanwhile, the short film director coordinated with Called to Rescue Philippines (CTR PH), a non-profit organization dedicated to saving victims of human trafficking. They emphasized the importance of reintegrating survivors into society as much as rescuing them.

“Bakit hanggang rescue na lang? ‘Yung after-rescue rin kailangan. [This project] was out of frustration and is one of the reasons I decided to do this,” stressed CTR PH president Anthony Pangilinan.

Aside from “Graduation,” Donny will also lead another movie titled “An Inconvenient Love.” For this much-anticipated project, actress Belle Mariano, her onscreen partner, will join him.
