Where the Spatula Meets the Pen: Testing Out Skin Poem's Kit

Skin Poem, where the spatula of skincare meets the pen of poetry—such is the magic of these holy grails. This emerging local brand in the beauty market dedicates itself to nurturing healthy, glowing, moisturized, cleansed, and hydrated skin.

Last week, I received a kit to try out. And, as I write this article, I can now attest to the benefits of using this Filipino brand.

Where the Spatula Meets the Pen: Skin Poem’s Packaging

I noticed that the package was securely wrapped in thick bubble wrap upon receiving the items which prevented any damage during transit. I found it impressive that despite the fragility of the items, each one arrived undamaged and securely delivered.

The Design

As I opened the package, I immediately noticed the minimalist design, featuring a sleek black and white palette. It exudes an aesthetic appeal perfect for enthusiasts of simple yet elegant designs. Undoubtedly, the branding of this product is impressive.

Moreover, it wasn’t just the sleek design of the product that caught my eye; it was also the inclusion of concise poetry on each product, explaining its skincare benefits. Furthermore, each poem varies depending on the function of the product.

As I turned the product over, I discovered another poetic verse describing how it metaphorically benefits the skin. Furthermore, when it comes to the kit, I received a cleansing handwash, moisturizing lotion, hydrating and brightening mist, and a nourishing night cream. Additionally, the night cream comes with a small spatula for application.

The Skin Poem Products’ Review

In this section, I’ll outline how each product addressed my skincare needs. For context, my facial skin type is normal, while my body skin type is sensitive. Consequently, I must be cautious with the products I use on my body to avoid adverse effects on my skin.

1. Gentle Hydrating Anti-Bacterial Handwash

Gentle Hydrating Anti-Bacterial Handwash

The first product that I tried was the 500mL hand wash. It has a refreshing ‘Fresh Pine’ scent that leaves a pleasant feeling on the skin. Its semi-thick consistency strikes the right balance between thickness and liquidity for effective hand cleansing. Furthermore, the handwash lathers and rinses off easily with a thorough rinse under running water.

I found it pleasing that it didn’t leave my hands feeling dry after washing. After a week of use, even my mom, who often experiences dry and peeling skin, noticed an improvement. She mentioned that the appearance of peeling reduced significantly.

I examined the ingredients and found that it contains Aloe Leaf extract, which likely explains its gentle nature. Overall, it effectively cleanses while maintaining skin hydration, making it a suitable choice for those with sensitive or dry skin.

2. Bioactive Cerafluid Elixir with Glycyrrhizin Infusion Body Lotion

After cleansing my hands, I applied their moisturizing lotion. One of the highlights of this lotion is its subtle fragrance– almost like the scent of baby wipes. Moreover, I also found that this lotion has a thick consistency that easily seeps through the skin.

Skin Poem’s lotion is highly absorbent and has a lightweight texture, providing effective moisturization. Additionally, it is infused with CeraFluid® Technology, which aids in protecting and restoring the skin’s barrier, enhancing smoothness and elasticity.

This 100mL body lotion left my skin feeling noticeably smoother, which is particularly beneficial as I work from home in an air-conditioned environment where the cold air tends to dry out my skin.

3. Hydrating and Brightening Mist

Moving on to facial skincare, I received this 100mL hydrating mist. Having tried other facial mists before, I found that this product offers similar benefits by effectively hydrating my face.

However, I noticed that their mist provides a refreshing and cooling sensation on the skin. Furthermore, this mist also has a subtle minty aroma, suitably complementing the cooling effect.

Since I’m into a simple skincare routine, I spritz on this mist before applying sunscreen during the day or night cream at night. This helps to seal in the hydration provided by the mist.

4. Overnight Radiance Activator Bakuchiol Serum-In-Night Cream with Phytoretinol™ and Sodium Hyaluronate

Finally, we’re moving on to the last product I received from this skincare haul from Skin Poem! I’m happy to say that this night cream has provided my face the nourishment it needs. The inclusion of a mini spatula helps in scooping the right amount while ensuring that the product stays clean and hygienic.

The light consistency of this 30mL night cream allows it to easily penetrate my skin without leaving any sticky residue even when left overnight. It also delivers its beneficial ingredients effectively.

What I particularly appreciate about this Skin Poem product is its infusion of Phytoretinol™ and Sodium Hyaluronate, known for its ability to prevent fine lines, reduce dryness, and improve skin radiance and texture. This is especially beneficial for young adults like myself, who are exposed to factors that can contribute to fine lines and premature aging.

Skin Poem’s commitment to intertwining effective and safe skincare with the elegance of poetry in its packaging distinguishes it in the beauty landscape. Reflecting on my experience, I’m reminded of the importance of supporting local brands.

Skin Poem’s exceptional quality, evident in the effectiveness of its products, makes it a standout choice. If asked whether I’d recommend Skin Poem, my answer would undoubtedly be yes. Not only does it deliver on quality, but it also allows me to support local products—a win-win situation, indeed.
