What Makes These Filipino Celebrities Go Crazy About Tennis

Due to the pandemic, everybody started taking care of their health more seriously and looked for ways to be healthy. Some of these ways include going to the gym, home workouts, 10k steps a day, and of course, sports

Tennis is undoubtedly one of the least nationally-recognized and supported sports in the country. However, after the pandemic, the tennis community saw a rise in recognition and interest after famous Filipino celebrities tried the sport. Here are some celebrities who tried and loved tennis:

Kathryn Bernardo and Alora Sasam

Barbie Imperial

Heaven Peralejo

Seriously though, what is it about tennis that makes it just so addicting?

What Makes These Filipino Celebrities Go Crazy About Tennis

Great recreational activity

After a long day at work, lifting heavy weights in the gym seems overwhelming and requires tremendous effort to finish. If you feel suffocated working out in a four-cornered wall, tennis is a great alternative for you.

Tennis is a great recreational activity whether you’re playing competitively or just for an after-work exercise. This sport helps you to lose weight and tone muscles at the same time. Playing tennis works multiple muscles and simultaneously improves your overall health with its cardiovascular factor like running while hitting continuously. Additionally, tennis is also an outdoor activity which allows you to catch some fresh air after a long day.

Playing this sport is a pressure-free activity, you can join and play just for fun. But, if you decide to get a little serious, tennis tournaments are held all year round. Playing in tournaments is fun, not to mention the friends you’ll meet along the way. Tournaments allow you to improve your mentality and develop your physical skill.

Good for solo, duo, and groupies!

No partner? No problem! Tennis, like other racket sports, consists of many categories such as singles, doubles, mixed doubles, and team event. This sport doesn’t discriminate and is open for everyone!

Like I said, this sport is for everyone, even solo flight players. Speaking of friends you’ll meet, the tennis community is one of the kindest and most encouraging sports communities. The clubs will welcome you and even invite you to join their club tournaments.

You can also double the fun by playing doubles with your BFF, colleagues, or even your partner like Bea Alonzo and Dominic Roque or Gabbi Garcia and Khalil Ramos.

In tennis, the more the merrier rings true. Learning in groups sounds fun and it truly is. Training with your friends feels easier than training alone as though you’re just breezing through the drills. Just look at the trio of Kathryn Bernardo, Ria Atayde, and Alora Sasam.

Tennis OOTD!

Personally, one of the best things about this sport is being able to rock an outfit while being productive. Tennis is a very liberal sport in terms of outfit choice except in Wimbledon where the dress code is strict. There is a wide array of fun outfit options. If you’re feeling cute, wear a dress! You can also rock a sports bra and skirt if you’re feeling brave and that’s no issue!

You think the OOTD stops with the apparel? No way! Tennis shoes, hats or visors, and rackets also add up to your aesthetic. There are a lot of colorful rackets and shoes in the market to choose from!

Undoubtedly, dressing up for your OOTD—or any agenda—makes you feel more ready and confident. Just like what Gabbi Garcia captioned in her IG—tennis with a little bit of arte, here are some outfits from our favorite celebrities:

No age limit

When I say this is open for everyone, it literally is for everyone. Starting in your late 30’s or even 60’s? That’s fine! In tennis, you still get to see old people play competitively, actively joining club tournaments. It is a great alternative to stay fit and healthy even in such an old age. When you’re old and aged, lifting heavy weights at the gym pose more risks and injuries. Playing tennis can be both played in low intensity or high intensity depending on your goals.

For elderly people who seek to find a recreational activity, tennis is a great option. Many aged people still play tennis and enjoy a good drink afterwards with their fellow players.

Gear up in your tennis OOTD and go to your nearest tennis court to try it out!
