What is Tumblr and Why Can’t I Let Go of It?

Whether we like it or not, high school played a crucial role in who we are as adults now. At one point, some of us cannot get enough of video games, boy and girl groups, and even our social media accounts. But for some, *ehem* like me *ehem*, Tumblr was one of my favorite obsessions.

No, sis, it is not a reusable drink bottle. Tumblr is a microblogging and social networking site. It allows its users to share various multimedia content to a short-form and mobile-friendly blog. I discovered Tumblr through a friend and have not stopped using it ever since.

Why you may ask, do I keep on holding onto my Tumblr account? Here are my reasons.

Ultimate Multimedia Source

If I am looking for a photo of a celebrity that exudes a certain vibe, Tumblr is my go-to site. Not only do its users provide a variety of selections, but they also provide high-quality pieces. So, if like me, you want a different source other than google images or Pinterest, you can check out Tumblr. Just make sure that when you acquire a photo from a certain user, you do not forget to give them the proper credit that they deserve.

Tip: you can find aesthetic lock screens and wallpapers here for your devices (i.e. laptops, tablets, phones). If you know which right keywords to use, you can even hit the jackpot!

It Provides a Perspective on an Alternate Universe

As a self-proclaimed dorky bookworm back in high school, Tumblr was my favorite online tambayan. I spent hours and hours more on Tumblr than on any other social media site before. I kid you not when I say that I will finish a 700-page book in a day or two just so I can go to Tumblr and read fan theories, fanfictions, or even headcanons about it. As I see it, a portion of why I am a little crazy about this site is because I was able to strongly relate to the users and their thoughts. Since most of them are bookworms and TV series viewers, I became exposed to their thoughts and insights and felt a sense of belongingness in their community.

Tumblr is a Platform

Lastly, Tumblr, aside from being a community, is also a platform. It provides an inclusive space for all kinds of dreamers. Since its services can host various multimedia content, writers, graphic and digital artists, video and audio editors, and many more talented individuals use this site to share their artworks. Personally, like these artists that I have mentioned, Tumblr is where I also explored different techniques in writing prose and poetry.

As you can see, Tumblr is a cornucopia itself. It is Facebook, Youtube, and Pinterest as one. So why would I let go of it, right?
