Things We Can Learn From ‘Ang Huling El Bimbo The Musical’

The ‘Joy Manawari‘ we’ve known since Ang Huling El Bimbo 2020 still touches us the same this 2023. The irony of her name still has that same lingering pinch in the heart as you further watch the musical.

She is the main character that showcases the reality of life. It’s heart-wrenching and fun-filled, and life’s twists and turns are there. Furthermore, here are some things we can ponder after watching this musical.

The musical started introducing its first few trio, Hector, Emman, and Anthony, and how their similarities formed their friendship. Then there goes Joy, the female protagonist set to have a huge impact on its audiences. Furthermore, the unraveling of events will hurt to teach us something about the real life:

The people we’ll meet will either stay, and they have the choice to come and go.

That’s the reality of life. No matter how much we love and cherish them, we do not have the capacity to cage them so they won’t leave. Moreover, they have a choice. And the only person who only has your back is yourself.

Neutrality and staying silent only favor the oppressor, never the oppressed.

It favors the abuser, never the abused. When you keep your mouth shut, you decline justice for the victims. Assess the situation, keep yourself updated, then take sides — even the littlest action still counts.

Accountability goes a long way.

Even if at some point in your life you made a mistake, you still have your whole life to take accountability for it. You can still redeem yourself because you’re still young or don’t know your other choices at that time.

You can still at least do something about it to make it right even if it takes you a long time to do so. This is one key for you to move forward in life since mistakes often hold us back due to the regret. However;

There are some things that time cannot return.

Life, itself. It will sometimes give you second chances, even unlimited ones. And sometimes, it will only give you once. So best thing to do is be all-out when loving and appreciating people — even to those who you think don’t really deserve it.

It is the reflection of you, and not theirs.

Being real will save you from people who won’t appreciate you.

If you’re going to choose the people who is rightful in your life, choose the ones who will fully accept you for who you are. You don’t have to tone yourself down just to fit in, because the right people will love you anyway. Furthermore, you’re not too much, you will never be too much for people who can’t get enough of you.

Never ever depend your worth and your future to others.

Even if you made mistakes in the past, you’re still worthy. Fuel your confidence with the love that you have for yourself, while also taking the love others give for you. Your mistakes won’t ever define you, it will only make you wiser. All of it, even your tragedies won’t ever define you.

On the other hand, you have your own life to control, and your choices to make. And the opportunities that are in front of you wouldn’t come if you weren’t worthy of it — trust me. Most importantly, hold on to your dreams, and never give up on them because you’ll get there soon.

Lastly, love is powerful enough to move mountains.

Love is more than just a feeling, it’s a choice that you have to keep choosing for it to work. However, it can also cause you to crumble yourself down to heartbreaks just because you keep on choosing it. In that case, you just have to find someone who is worth those earthquakes — someday, if it’s genuine and good, it’ll triumph.

So much for the musical takeaways. Of course, you will learn differently once you’ve watched it.

AHEB never fails to move people, to touch their emotions, and their ability to stand tall for those who needs it. The intensity of the emotions hits differently seeing the characters in real-life. In that case, the musical will perform its last two weeks, and its last show is in July 23, so secure your tickets here to see it live!
