SB19 reigns in the 7th Wish Music Awards with a perfect 5/5 win
‘This is our victory, A’TIN!’
SB19 grabbed 5/5 wins last January 30 on the 7th Wish Music Awards. Bagging the accolades for all their five nominations makes them the second ‘most awarded artist’ in the short history of WMA.
Among the 19 major awards, SB19 had been nominated for Pop Performance of the Year for their song ‘Ikako,’ Ballad Performance of the Year for their performance of ‘Hanggang sa Huli,’ Pop Song of the Year for their song ‘What?‘, Wish Group of the Year, and the Wishers’ Choice award.
“Wish Music Awards is one of the most well-known awards show in the local music scene…We hope for this platform to continue and inspire more artists to work on their crafts. As artists, being able to not only share our music but also to help, is a great thing for us,”
SB19 said in an interview after the event.
Celebrating 7 Years of OPM’s greatest acts and talents
Wish Music Awards is an annual award-giving ceremony presented by Wish 107.5. What sets them apart from other award-giving bodies is that the winners choose a beneficiary for every major award. SB19 chose the Autism Society Philippines.
On its seventh anniversary, the supposed ceremony to be held last January 16 was moved to the 30th in an online event instead of the usual at the Smart Araneta Coliseum due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The online voting period started on November 15 last and lasted until January 3, 2022. Fans, also known as ‘Wishers,’ contribute 20% of the voting and the panel of judges with 80% to determine the winners. With SB19 leading in almost all their nominations for months, as seen through votes. Proving that A’TIN has been at work, voting with all their might for the group.
Seeing the five’s proud smiles and happy faces is more than enough reward for all those months of voting. It was indeed a most deserved win for SB19 and their A’TIN.
