The 21-year-old artist from Cavite has officially launched her debut single on various streaming platforms this October 1st. Furthermore, in our recent interview with Kath, she shared the backstory of this song.
“I was just strumming my guitar one rainy afternoon of May 2019 and [then] the melody and lyrics just popped in my head. Sabi ko, parang ang ganda niya gawing kanta, so I immediately wrote down every ideas popping in my head and eventually turn it into a complete song.“

However, she recently mentioned that she can relate to her song because her grandmother passed away. As the song centers around a loved one who peacefully departed.
She shared some fun facts about her debut song. She revealed that its original title wasn’t ‘Kape‘ but rather ‘Bumalik Ka Na.’ The current title was suggested by her Senior High School friends after listening to the song, as they felt it better suited the track.

During the interview, she said that starting off from scratch is no easy feat, given that she still hasn’t yet established her name in the industry.
“–but I can say that I’ve been receiving a number of support from my friends, peers, and family,” she added.
Furthermore, she expressed that being a Spotify artist brings a little sense of fulfillment, given the multitude of talented artists sharing their craft. Being a part of this creative community is, for her, a significant accomplishment.
“Marami rin akong pinagdaanan bago na-release sa Spotify yung Kape,” she said.
Prior to her release, she searched for a reliable producer and distributor who could put her music up on different streaming platforms. Despite her limited resources, she successfully produced her song.

No matter where you are right now, let Kath’s story inspire you to go after what you want. Furthermore, she mentioned that her father taught her the fundamentals of guitar playing, and she also plays ukulele. Recently, she has been actively taking piano lessons for months now.
When it comes to writing, she began writing songs during the seventh grade. Her songwriting skills flourished during high school, where various activities demanded her to compose songs and showcase her innate talents.
She also revealed that a teenage heartbreak once pushed her to turn to songwriting as her primary outlet. It allowed her emotions to find expression through music.
Furthermore, during her college years, she took on the task of writing the CvSU Musikeros‘ Station ID. She expressed her gratitude for this opportunity, as it allowed her to showcase her talents.

During the interview, she revealed that she’s been working on a song with her friend.
“We are so excited to share this with all of you. Although the music we’re working on is really a major shift of genre on my part, nonetheless, we made sure that this music is worth the streams. I can’t really wait for everyone to hear this!“
