Jane de Leon dishes on upcoming projects after ‘Darna’
Following her portrayal as the iconic superheroine in Mars Ravelo’s Darna, actress Jane de Leon spilled the succeeding steps in her acting journey.
Darna is hailed as the most significant performance Jane has played to date. After a rigorous audition process conducted by the ABS-CBN Network, she outpaced 300 aspirants and claimed the part. Based on reports, it was her acting prowess, physical fitness, and similarity to the character that led her to clinch the role.
As Mars Ravelo’s Darna concluded in February this year, many are left wondering what the future holds for its lead actress. Hence, Jane finally gave her fans a recent tease.

In a news report by Push, Jane disclosed her commitments and plans after the finale of her latest drama series. She also explained to the media the reason for her minimal television appearances after the big project.
“After Darna, ang dami ngang nagsasabi na nasaan na raw ako? Inaantay nila ako [pero] hindi raw ako nagpapakita. [Ang totoo], may mga upcoming projects talaga ako, especially movies. Hindi lang po talaga namin [masabi pa] sa lahat [kasi] gusto namin surprise.”
Jane noted that she did lots of shooting for endorsements and received many offers this May alone. Thus, she is taking advantage of her free time before returning to her acting stints, probably this June. The 24-year-old rising star further heightened the anticipation,
“More than one ‘yung movie. So, marami talaga kayong aabangan.”
As for what is next, Jane shared her thoughts on the projects she would like to pursue. Although she acknowledged her natural inclination towards action-oriented roles, she also affirmed her willingness to embrace more diverse characters.
‘Yung action [genre] kasi, hindi na yata mawawala sa’kin ‘yun. Siguro something new [naman]. Sa action kasi, nakita ako lagi ng tao na seryoso sa Probinsyano, sa Darna. [Kaya sana] medyo nalalayo naman sa mga ganoong karakter.”
In the meantime, Jane will enjoy her trips abroad and trying out new things. Aside from doing vlogs and playing drums, she will immerse herself in other martial arts.
