Lyca Gairanod recounts how she met her first boyfriend through TikTok
Young singer Lyca Garanoid shares how social media played a big part in getting connected with her first boyfriend, Kyle Walle.
On Friday, Lyca appeared as a guest on the morning talk show Magandang Buhay. During an interview with the hosts, she narrated the story behind her current love life. With her boyfriend’s company, they also revealed more details about their relationship.
And what served as the matchmaker for the two? The trending video-sharing platform TikTok.

Based on their story-telling, Lyca was the first to initiate an action, although her approach had no intention other than to appreciate. In one of Kyle’s TikTok videos, the comment she left out of amusement will eventually kick-start the spark between them.
“Unexpected po na doon kami mag-i-start sa TikTok. Kasi hindi naman namin alam ang mangyayari, hindi namin alam kung magiging kami. Ang galing kasi ‘yung TikTok din po ang [naging] way na magkita at magka-develop-an kami,” Lyca said.
Upon reading Lyca‘s comment, Kyle affirmed his attraction to the young girl, whom he initially found cute. Unaware he is about to talk to a celebrity, he then made the first move by sending a message. When Lyca replied, the rest marked the turning point of their romance.
“Nagkakilalanan lang po kami through chat. Kumbaga, getting to know each other, tapos iyon,” Kyle added. Soon, the lad flew from the United States to the Philippines and met Lyca’s family, but they were only close friends at that time.
Kyle waited until both of them turned eighteen before sealing their ties as lovers and earning their family’s blessings. Meanwhile, Lyca decided to reveal their romantic connection to the public in December last year.
“About sa family ko po, sobrang thankful ako kasi this is my first time na magkaroon ng boyfriend. So talagang [ang payo nila] ‘know your limits, susuportahan ka namin.’”
Currently, the couple is in a long-distance relationship set up. Lyca and Kyle emphasized the importance of trust and communication to build assurance and keep things in balance.
