It Still Feels Surreal: A Month After Arjo and Maine’s Engagement
Love really is magical. That is how celebrity couple Arjo Atayde and Maine Mendoza made us feel after their engagement last month, July 28. The former, who is known for his “grand gestures,” arranged what appeared to be a magazine photoshoot for the latter. Both of them took to social media to share the big announcement which left the public amazed and kilig. Other relatives and celebrity friends also congratulated them as they navigated another life chapter.
As though the universe is rewarding humankind, Maine Mendoza made known what happened during the proposal. Last Sunday, August 28, our phenomenal star gave us a glimpse of the memorable night through a 5-minute clip shared on Instagram. The actress posted it exactly a month ago after her engagement with Arjo Atayde, in which she included the short caption that says, “Been a month and it still feels surreal. Me and you, what a feeling. 💍🤍”
The Magical Engagement
In the video, Arjo revealed that his plans to propose were supposed to happen on an earlier date. However, the young actor said there were things that needed to be considered as it concerns the family. Afterward, he went public with how he had kept the ring for a little over a year. Perhaps, the 28th of July was meant for something so special, as Arjo detailed that the engagement was the exact date when his partner tweeted the now-viral “Arjo cutie” way back 2013. “This is the day I met her also, July 28, 2018. And now I proposed, July 28, 2022,” he narrated.
An Answered Prayer
For Maine, her soon-to-be-husband, Arjo, is like an answered prayer. Along with the phrase, “a man who’s gonna love me for who I am,” she knew for certain this is the kind of romantic love she dreams of having. With Arjo, she is treated like a princess, genuinely loved and cared for. Bearing in mind all the sentiments she manifested, this one for love, definitely, hits differently. As Maine reminisced about her engagement proposal, she cannot help but still feel “on cloud nine.”
It can be recalled that it was in December 2018 when their relationship started. At that time, both of them starred in the action-comedy film Jack Em Popoy: The Puliscredibles, which was among the official entries in the 2018 Metro Manila Film Festival. Actor-politician Arjo Atayde played the part of Andrew, the son of Ronaldo Valdez’ character, Don Antonio Montenegro; while actress-host Maine Mendoza portrayed the role of Police Officer 1 Emily “Em” Fernandez. It was only in January and March of 2019 when the celebrities admitted to being exclusively dating one another.
