Dual-role Korean Actors in KDrama Series

Korean drama is one of the leading media products today. I personally love watching Korean dramas because of their unique storylines and multi-talented actors. Subsequently, these actors are loved by fans not only because of their visuals. But, the primary reason behind this is their good acting skills and versatility. They are versatile to the point that some took dual characters in a drama series.

Without a doubt, Korean actors have successfully demonstrated their acting abilities through multiple roles at once. Most of their dual roles are twins, clones, doppelgängers, and or even other universe versions of themselves. However, regardless of their characters, they put utmost justice and deliver top-notch performances in every role they take.

Look at the list of some Korean actors who portray the most memorable dual roles in Korean dramas.

Park Eun-seok (The Penthouse: War in Life)

Park Eun-seok has been loved by The Penthouse: War in Life’s viewers because of his diverse role in the show from 2021 to 2021. In this show, he first portrayed three roles. His first role was in the persona of Gu Ho-dong, a P.E. teacher at Cheong Ah Arts School. Subsequently, he turns out to be the wealthy Logan Lee. Afterward, Logan Lee was thought to be dead by the end of season two, and his older brother Alex Lee—also portrayed by Eun-seok—entered the show.

Yoo Shi-yoon, in this drama, portrayed the dual role of identical twins. He performed the role of Judge Han Soo-ho, a judge. In addition, he also portrays its twin, Han Kang-ho, a person with a lengthy criminal history. The storyline went up as Han Soo-Ho abruptly vanished one day. With this, Han Kang-ho surreptitiously fills in his brother as a judge.

Kim So-hyun (Who Are You: School 2015)

This child star further cemented her reputation when she played twins in the teen drama entitled Who Are You: School 2015. Kim So-hyun played the role of Go Eun-byul and Lee Eun-bi. These two characters are identical twins who become separated after one has been adopted.

Fans also notice how Kim So-hyun evolved as an actor for playing these roles. Throughout the show, it has been notable that the twins have opposite personalities. Thereby, fans were impressed when Kim So-hyun showcased how she delivered the unsimilar behavior of the twins.

Seo Kang-joon (Are you Human)

In this drama, Seo Kang-joon portrayed the dual role of a human and a robot. He first played the role of Nam Shin, a son of a family that owns and operates a large corporation. However, he experiences an unanticipated accident and goes into a coma. Consequently, the principal character’s mother develops an android. In this, Seo Kang-joon played the role of Nam Shin III, an android that exactly resembles Nam Shin.

Yang Se-jong (Duel)

In this drama, Yang Se-jong played three characters. He played the role of Lee Sung-joon, Lee Sung-hoon, and Lee Yong-seob. The drama plot lines went up as the crime squad chief encountered a human clone. The human clone was Lee Sung-joon, the man with amnesia who shares the same face and fingerprints as the kidnapper Lee Sung-hoon. However, it turned out that both Sung-joon and Sung-hoon were clones of the scientist Yong-seob. Additionally, this drama had something to do with human cloning and stem cell research.

Arthdal Chronicles (2019) featured Song Joong-ki in the lead role of a pair of Igutu twins. He played the role of the twins Eun-seom and Saya. Both of the twins grew apart from each other. Eun-seom grew up in the Wahan Tribe because he was predicted to bring disaster to Arth. On the other hand, Saya was taken to Arthdal and kept secret at the Fortress of Fire.

Woo Do-hwan (The King: Eternal Monarch)

In The King: Eternal Monarch, Woo Do-hwan stood out for expertly portraying dual roles. He plays the contrasting personalities of Jo Yeong and his alternate reality version, Jo Eun-sup. This drama features Jo Yeong, a stoic royal guard of the leader of the Kingdom of Corea. Meanwhile, Jo Eun-sup is an employee of the National Police Agency of the Republic of Korea.

The above-mentioned Korean Actors are just a few of the most versatile actors in Korean dramas. Most of these actors impressed us because of their dual roles in just one drama. Acting as one character is evidently hard. What more if they are portraying two roles? Imagine how they prepare for this task. How they work hard to give justice to each characterization.

Therefore, these actors deserve the recognition and validation they earned in their shows. The excellent entertainment we have nowadays would not be possible without them.
