HONOR Magic V6 Review

Foldable smartphones have come a long way, but they have traditionally required buyers to accept compromises. The HONOR Magic V6 takes a different approach. Rather than simply creating another foldable with a large internal screen, HONOR focuses on making the device feel like a conventional flagship when folded. At the same time, it delivers the benefits of a tablet-sized display when opened.

Design: Thin Enough to Change the Foldable Experience

The first thing you notice about the HONOR Magic V6 is how thin it is.

When unfolded, the phone measures approximately 4mm thick. Meanwhile, the folded device measures around 8.75mm, depending on the version. The lightest configuration weighs approximately 219 grams, although the exact weight varies by finish.

These measurements matter because thickness remains one of the biggest challenges for foldable smartphones. A conventional flagship already fits comfortably into a pocket. However, a foldable needs two display halves, a hinge, additional structural components, and a large battery. Historically, these requirements made foldables feel noticeably bulky.

The HONOR Magic V6 comes surprisingly close to feeling like a conventional premium smartphone when closed.

The design also looks unmistakably premium. HONOR offers different finishes across its available colorways, including a distinctive red variant with a textured rear surface. This texture provides additional grip and visual character. Overall, HONOR has clearly focused on making the Magic V6 feel like a luxury smartphone.

Hinge and Durability

Thinness would not mean much if the phone felt fragile.

Fortunately, durability is one of the HONOR Magic V6‘s strongest aspects. HONOR uses its Super Steel Hinge and rates it for up to 500,000 folds. More importantly, the phone carries both IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. That combination marks an important achievement for a foldable.

The folding mechanism creates additional challenges when manufacturers protect phones against dust and water. Traditional smartphones have relatively simple solid chassis, while foldables use moving components and complex hinges.

The HONOR Magic V6’s IP68 and IP69 protection makes everyday use considerably more reassuring. However, users should not deliberately expose the phone to water or treat it as completely waterproof. Water-resistance ratings come from laboratory testing, so they do not guarantee protection during deep-water exposure.

Nevertheless, this level of protection helps the HONOR Magic V6 feel more practical than earlier generations of foldables.

Displays: Two Flagship-Quality Screens

The HONOR Magic V6 has two OLED displays.

The external cover display measures 6.52 inches, while the internal folding display measures 7.95 inches. Both support refresh rates of up to 120Hz, making scrolling, animations, and supported games look smooth. The cover screen has a resolution of 2420 × 1080, while the internal screen has a resolution of 2352 × 2172.

The inner display remains the defining feature of the phone. At almost eight inches, it makes multitasking, reading documents, browsing websites, and watching videos substantially more comfortable than on conventional smartphones.

Meanwhile, the outer screen works well as a normal smartphone display. This matters because some foldables make their external screens feel like an afterthought.

The Foldable Crease

No foldable review would feel complete without discussing the crease. The HONOR Magic V6 does not eliminate the crease entirely. You can still see it from certain angles and feel it when running your finger across the screen.

However, the crease remains relatively subtle. The HONOR Magic V6 cannot make its folding display identical to conventional flat OLED panels, but the crease rarely draws attention. For us, it becomes something you stop noticing after spending time with the phone.

Performance: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

The HONOR Magic V6 uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, one of the highest-performing mobile processors available in 2026. Combined with fast memory and UFS 4.1 storage, the phone feels appropriately premium when switching between applications.

The internal display encourages users to multitask, so the phone needs to handle more demanding workflows than a basic smartphone.

Battery Life: One of the Magic V6’s Biggest Strengths

The HONOR Magic V6 contains a 6,660mAh silicon-carbon battery, which is enormous for such a thin device. Silicon-carbon battery technology allows manufacturers to achieve higher energy density without making the battery physically enormous. In practical use, the HONOR Magic V6 generally delivers excellent endurance.
