BLACKPINK’s Lisa is the latest member of the K-pop girl group to make her solo debut. She begins her solo journey with her debut album Lalisa, released this Friday, September 10.
After releasing multiple video teasers, the 24-year-old singer released the two-song project, featuring the title track “Lalisa” and another song called “Money.” Instrumental versions of both songs are also included in the release.
Lisa is the third member of BLACKPINK to release solo material. Jennie was the first, dropping her single aptly titled Solo in 2018.
Rosé followed in March 2021, releasing her project -R-. The song got featured in the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. No. 1 smash On the Ground and Gone.
Jisoo will be the final member of the quartet to make her solo debut. The group’s label, YG Entertainment, confirmed it last year.
Teddy and Bekuh Boom wrote and composed Lalisa‘s title track, while 24 also composed and arranged it. Boom and Vince, on the other hand, wrote and composed Money. R.Tee also composed the track and was assisted by 24 for the arrangement.
Lisa’s solo debut came five years after she debuted in BLACKPINK last 2016. According to her agency, Lisa shared,
“I keep shaking and can’t believe it. I’m happy to show you my first solo performance, and I hope BLINKs will enjoy it.”
She also mentioned their ever-supportive fans, the BLINKs.
“This is my first solo album, and the album is so meaningful to be named ‘Lalisa.’ BLINKs, thank you for waiting for my solo album for a long time. I worked hard to prepare for it.”
When asked about the reason why she named the album and the carrier track Lalisa, she answered,
“I wanted to capture my best image. I made this because I wanted to show Lalisa herself. I’m happy and excited to be able to show you my new side and music.”
Lisa will perform Lalisa on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Friday, September 10, and we can’t be more excited.
