Best Hits of Little Mix — 11 Years With the Best Girl Group

Eleven years ago today, Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, Leigh Anne Pinnock, and Jesy Nelson were grouped together to form one of the most powerful girl groups we have ever seen—Little Mix.

As a die-hard Mixer, it breaks my heart to think that they are currently on an indefinite hiatus (I still cry to their ‘Between Us‘ performance in the Graham Norton Show to this day) and, of course, the messy departure of Jesy from the group.

But of course, it is their 11th anniversary and we will only be talking about all the things we love about them. All the positive vibes and the memorable experiences we’ve had with the queens who provided us with only the best.

In terms of vocal power, quality of songs, and the best performances, Little Mix reigns supreme. The vocal agility and range of all the girls vary and they are superb in each and every way.

Little Mix: The Search

Not only the talent but they have also produced some of the best songs of this generation because of their catchiness and overall concept. In this article, we will be talking about just that as well as how they are the best among all their hits.

We will be including their songs as a quartet and as a trio in no particular order—some are new and some are their earlier music. Most of these are the title tracks of their albums because they just know how to choose their lead singles. Also, we cannot possibly include every one of their great songs because there are way too many, so pls don’t expect all of them to be here.

Let’s get into it!

The Hits That Made Little Mix and What We Love About Them

Secret Love Song — Get Weird Album

But we know this
We got a love that is hopeless

One of their best performances to date — they sang Secret Love Song in their reality show, Little Mix: The Search.

Secret Love Song tackles the idea of a clandestine romance between two people. It talks about the struggles of having to love each other behind the scene and not having the ability to “shout it from the rooftops.”

Its lyrics mention not being able to hold each other on the street, not kissing on the dance floor, and such. According to the girls, specifically Jade, they interpreted it as LGBTQ couples struggling to find their place.

However, on the other hand, Jason Derulo, a collaborator in the song, said that his personal experience is different because he fell in love with a girl who is already in a relationship.

No matter how you look at it, the song brings a different kind of sadness as it speaks about something taboo. What’s important is how Little Mix has always been an ally to the LGBTQIA+ community and they continue to stand with them in the girls’ songs.

Black Magic — Get Weird Album

Take a sip of my secret potion
I’ll make you fall in love

Little Mix

Another song from their Get Weird album, Black Magic is much more from the playful side of the girls. It plays along with the idea that women are witches and they use magic to get what they want, not with their beauty, intelligence, and likability but with some outside force.

Being feminists, there is no denying that their intention is to mock the idea of society when it comes to the power of women.

Well, if you want a much lighter interpretation of this song, you can just think about it as a way for young girls to use potions to get the attention of their crushes. If you roll that way, then ok.

Salute — Salute Album

Representing all the women, salute, salute

Little Mix
From the official music video of Salute

Speaking of women empowerment, nothing will top the feminist energy that Salute brings. Whenever it plays during my daily Little Mix party shuffle, there is this energy that makes me shout the lyrics to my core. It is that powerful.

I will make the bold statement that this song is probably one of the most empowering pieces of music I have heard. The lyrics are just chef’s kiss but also pair that with the amazing melody of the track, and their amazing choreography.

I cannot stress enough how much umph this song holds. It is that good.

Wings — DNA Album

These wings are made to fly

Little Mix

A song of their own, their debut single, Wings is a pop song that just motivates you to the core. It is the ultimate anthem about reaching your dreams and not letting anyone ruin your shine.

As expected from your girls who just started their career after winning the X-Factor, it just seems fitting to open up with this. It is catchy and it has all the elements that make pop songs worthwhile.

Play this on and you will surely get the push that you need to reach your dreams.

Break Up Song — Confetti Album

So tonight, I’ll sing another
Another break up song

Also one of my favorite performances of the girls is when they sang Break Up Song on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing

Little Mix loves singing about getting over a person after a breakup and Break Up Song is one of those that actually kind of help. The 80s vibe that the track brings is very light with its upbeat tune and powerful yet comforting vocals.

The entire album of Confetti personally holds a special place in my heart because it came at the exact moment I needed it.

When you look at the lyrics, even the title itself, the song is self-aware about there being a hundred of music about heartbreak and breakup. Nevertheless, they don’t care and they just want to get over the person and they will do anything to do that.

Shout Out to My Ex — Glory Days Album

You made my heart break and that made me who I am

Little Mix
From the official music vide of Shout Out to My Ex

Shout Out to My Ex is probably one of Little Mix’s most popular songs. When it came out, people from around the world sang this until their hearts bled. Unlike Break Up Song, this hit is a complete “fuck you” to the exes.

See Also

The former is a much more friendly approach and more of finding oneself and getting over the breakup. On the other hand, SOTME is unapologetic and full of feelings. Instead of currently moving on just like in the earlier mentioned track, this song is after that stage—the success after the breakup.

The song is empowering with its message of growth without the need for a man and how they have grown because of the pain that they have felt.

Strip — LM5 Album

Take off all my make-up
‘Cause I love what’s under it
Rub off all your words, don’t give a uh, I’m over it

Little Mix
From the official music video of Strip (ft. Sharaya J)

With Little Mix, it is normal that you hear “women empowerment” because their career is built around that. Even though you probably get it now, one of the best songs that they have created is about that as well but with a deeper message.

Unlike Salute which is the anthem of women, Strip is more about loving and accepting oneself despite the flaws that society has made us believe. It sends across a message of embracing the entirety of your being together with its physical attributes that are considered unacceptable and ugly.

The track is upbeat and lively as it celebrates inclusivity and trumping societal beauty standards. The best part of it is the sudden drop of the beat and music as Leigh-Anne sings the most important lyrics repeated all throughout the song but this time, bare, and without all of the effects, highlighting her beautiful voice and their beautiful message.

Between Us — Between Us Album

The most emotional performance of Little Mix to date is when they sang Between Us at the Graham Norton Show

You have reached the end of the list, and sadly, looks like we Mixers did too, as we talk about Between Us from their Greatest Hits album. This track is probably the saddest yet most touching music they have released in the entirety of their career.

As I mentioned, the group is currently on an indefinite hiatus which means that we don’t know if or when they are coming back. They continue to assure fans that it is not the end of Little Mix but it sure does feel like it.

Anyway, the song is about sharing the history and living the victories together—the three of them, the remaining members. That no matter what happens, nothing will come between them and that they will always stick with each other.

Ok, I am done now. I shouldn’t do this to myself.

When the curtains close and all of the lights go down
Safe to say I’ll stay I will always stick around

As the girls say, Little Mix is forever. Jesy has already debuted, immediately after leaving the band. On the other hand, the other girls are already preparing for their solo projects and all of them actually look really promising.

Leigh-Anne and Perrie both had their babies and Jade is a proud aunt. All seems to be going well and I couldn’t be happier for them.

I am and will always be a Mixer… I will wait for them to come back till the end of time. My girls, I love you forever,
