The film stars Tom Cruise as Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell who has an incredible passion for aviation. He reprised his role from the original film. He is alongside the new Hollywood cast ever-ready to provide us with a real-life cinematography experience in the theaters.

The film has garnered $409.5 million after 19 days at the domestic box office, which has already surpassed Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The original Top Gun was first released in theaters in 1986, starring one of the world’s highest-paid actors, Tom Cruise, together with Val Kilmer, Kelly McGillis, Anthony Edwards, Meg Ryan, and other stars. It was directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Don Simpson, and Bill Badalato.

A decade in the making

It was exciting to hear that Top Gun was going to be released in theaters in 2020. But what happened off-cam that it was served overdue?

After 36 years of waiting, Top Gun fans can finally watch the sequel to the film.

It took eight years of development, two years of production, a new director, and five pandemic-related delays before it made an uproar on-screen.

Finally, Paramount Pictures has released Top Gun: Maverick, an action film that conquers the interests of even non-interested movie geeks. This film will surely swoop over even non-action lovers.

Because who wouldn’t fall in love with Maverick’s flying stunts that will send you on a roller-coaster ride in your seats?

Tom Cruise is renowned for doing his stunt work. He developed a flight training program that prepared his co-actors to indulge in the film. The sequel’s cast went through months of intensive flight training, so the footage you see of them in F/A-18 fighter jets is real, and not just CGI.

No one but Tom Cruise can play Top Gun. Tom Cruise earned his pilot’s license in the mid-’90s. And it is no surprise that the P-51 aircraft shown in the movie is his possession. Cruise even got to fly an F-14 jet while making the film.
