In collaboration with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, Apple brings the simplicity, reliability, and privacy of iPhone and Apple Home to a new suite of smart cameras, thermostats, and a door lock.
Apple today announced Apple Home Collection, a new lineup of smart home accessories — including indoor and outdoor cameras, thermostats, temperature sensors, a video doorbell, and a door lock — that Apple designed in collaboration with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric.¹ These accessories offer simple setup with a single tap of an iPhone, and users can manage everything through the Apple Home app without downloading a separate app or creating another account. Apple Home encrypts data from every accessory end-to-end, so only users and the people they authorize can access their home data.
Building on the thousands of Works with Apple Home and Matter accessories available today, Apple Home Collection gives customers a new range of recommended products to monitor activity inside and outside their homes, manage access, and maintain comfortable temperatures throughout the day. Products launch in December, with select accessories arriving in early 2027.
“Apple Home Collection makes it easy to choose smart home accessories with confidence,” said Matthew Costello, Apple’s vice president of Hardware Engineering. “Working closely with industry leaders LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, we designed every accessory to work seamlessly with Apple Home, so managing your home is simple, reliable, and private.”
A New Kind of Apple Home
For years, Works with Apple Home and Matter certification has enabled a wide range of third-party accessories to connect with Apple’s smart home ecosystem. Apple Home Collection builds on that foundation. Apple collaborated closely with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric to create an integrated Apple Home experience across the new product lineup. Like all accessories in Apple Home, Apple Home Collection products prioritize privacy. The Home app encrypts data end-to-end, preventing LG Electronics, Schneider Electric, and Apple from reading it.
These new accessories feature a clean, minimal aesthetic and premium materials. Apple and its partners considered every detail, from mounting and adjustability to how each product looks and feels alongside Apple devices throughout the home. Users can set up each product with a single tap of an iPhone, control it entirely through the Home app or Siri, and use it independently or as part of a connected system.
“LG Electronics has spent decades developing technologies and products designed around the way people live,” said Kihyun Jung, LG Electronics’ executive vice president. “Working closely with Apple, we’ve co-created a more connected, intuitive, and convenient home experience for our customers.”
“As a global leader in energy technology, we are proud to bring our experience in innovative and advanced climate control to Apple Home,” said Olivier Blum, Schneider Electric’s CEO. “Schneider Home’s new Smart Thermostat is a true collaboration with Apple to give customers a seamless way to help manage their home’s energy use, effortlessly blending efficiency with everyday comfort and simplicity.”
Home Monitoring
LG’s lineup of four cameras gives users a private, intelligent way to monitor their homes through a home hub such as Apple HomeView, HomePod, HomePod mini, or Apple TV 4K. Each camera captures video at up to 2.5K resolution and recognizes people, familiar faces, pets, vehicles, and packages. Users can securely store video history through a supported iCloud+ plan without paying for a separate camera subscription.²
The lineup includes the following devices:
-
- LG Video Doorbell: Dual cameras capture separate views of visitors and packages, allowing users to switch seamlessly between the front and bottom camera views. A built-in spotlight illuminates the entrance, while HomeView, HomePod, and HomePod mini can play the doorbell chime. The front camera captures 2.5K video, while the bottom camera captures full HD video.
-
- LG Floodlight Cam: Adaptive dual floodlights automatically activate when the camera detects motion. Low-light color night vision preserves clarity in darker conditions, helping users see more of their surroundings.
-
- LG Outdoor Cam: Low-light color night vision improves visibility after dark, while a flexible design lets users adjust the camera angle. Users can also install the camera themselves.
-
- LG Indoor Cam: The camera enhances privacy through the Home app by automatically tilting upward and downward as users check in on their homes. When the first household member returns, the camera tilts back down to stop monitoring. Users can also adjust the camera manually or through the Home app whenever they want to check a room or refine the viewing angle.
Each camera works with iCloud+, giving users access to 10 days of event video history. On eligible iCloud+ plans, Apple Intelligence automatically generates video descriptions that summarize each clip and lets users search footage using natural, descriptive language.³ Built-in storage keeps cameras recording during Wi-Fi outages, while improved recording and storage systems help preserve detected moments when the network goes down.
Users can view live footage and camera activity anytime through the Home app on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV 4K, or HomeView. Quick live snapshots also provide at-a-glance updates without requiring users to open a full livestream.
Home Access
LG’s Smart Deadbolt Lock makes home access more convenient. Ultra Wideband technology lets the lock determine a user’s proximity as they approach the door. When someone carrying a home key on a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch approaches, the lock automatically unlocks the door without requiring a tap.
Users can also unlock the door by tapping their iPhone or Apple Watch, entering a code on the integrated PIN pad, or using the hidden backup key slot. The lock detects when someone opens, closes, or tampers with the door and alerts users if the door remains open, even when locked. Users can also share guest access directly through the Home app, making it easy to give dog walkers, house sitters, and visiting family members their own way inside.
Home app controls connect the doorbell and lock into a unified front-door system, allowing users to see visitors and unlock the door from a single view or through Siri. When someone rings the doorbell, HomeView, HomePod, or HomePod mini plays a chime, and the user’s Apple devices, including iPhone and iPad, receive a notification. From anywhere, users can see who is at the door, speak with the visitor, and unlock the door remotely.
The new smart lock supports Matter and Aliro and performs core access functions locally, allowing users to continue unlocking the door even without an internet connection.
Home Climate
Customers can choose between two new Smart Thermostats: one from LG Electronics and one from Schneider Electric. Each option complements a different home energy ecosystem. Using on-device intelligence from iPhone, Adaptive Temperature in the Home app automatically adjusts the thermostats based on whether someone is home, winding down for the night, or away. This feature maintains a comfortable temperature without requiring manual scheduling.
In the contiguous U.S., Clean Energy Guidance can shift heating and cooling to cleaner, lower-cost periods for customers with compatible utility plans. The Home app also tracks energy use over time and displays insights such as peak and off-peak rates.
The new thermostats can monitor temperature and humidity across multiple rooms through LG Electronics’ and Schneider Electric’s standalone sensors or the sensors built into HomeView, HomePod, and HomePod mini.
Both thermostats and the temperature and humidity sensors support Matter and offer DIY-friendly installation. They also work with a broad range of HVAC systems, while on-device wire detection simplifies setup.
One Home, Working Together
Every product in the new lineup delivers a consistent setup and control experience. Users can add an accessory to Apple Home with a single tap of an iPhone, much like setting up HomePod, without downloading another app or creating a separate account. Every device supports Thread to help maintain connectivity if Wi-Fi drops. Products also automatically update their network credentials when customers change their home Wi-Fi, eliminating a common smart home frustration.
The accessories work together seamlessly, and users can control every product with Siri. For example, a single “Good Morning” scene can adjust the thermostat, tilt an indoor camera downward while a user gets ready, and start music on HomePod.
Using on-device intelligence from iPhone or Apple Watch, users can configure Apple Home to recognize key moments throughout the day. When the last household member leaves for work, the thermostat adjusts for an empty home, the door locks, and the cameras resume monitoring. Before household members return, the thermostat begins adjusting the temperature, and the front door unlocks automatically as they approach.
Privacy at Home
Privacy remains fundamental to Apple Home. Apple Home encrypts camera footage and personal data end-to-end, preventing LG Electronics, Schneider Electric, and Apple from accessing them. The customer’s Apple Home hub or Private Cloud Compute securely processes camera footage locally or in the cloud. For users with iCloud+, Apple securely stores the footage in iCloud for 10 days, with encryption protecting the data from everyone, including Apple.
Professional Installation Available at Apple Retail
Customers who prefer professional installation can use Apple Retail’s new third-party installation service from ADT for an additional fee. The service launches in the U.S. this fall.
Pricing and Availability
Apple Home Collection products launch in December in the U.S., U.K., and Canada, with select accessories arriving in early 2027.
