She’s Barbie, she’s everything

First on the list, of course, is the Barbie girl herself. Australian actress Margot Robbie is all dolled-up as she portrays Barbie in the live-action adaptation. She is also known for her badass role as Harley Quinn. We will see a different side of Margot Robbie away from her hit movies I, Tonya, and The Wolf of Wall Street.

In this ultimate dream girl movie, I’m looking forward to how she will deliver the life of a living doll. In the trailer itself, it seems like she will be questioning a lot of the status quo in Barbie Land. I can’t wait to see the girl boss in the form of Margot Robbie. With all the glitz and glamour, I’m excited about her outfits in the movie. She is known for being a fashionista and I’m thrilled with how she will rock those looks.

He’s just Ken

He might just be a Ken but he’s Ryan Gosling! It will be my first time seeing Ryan Gosling in a soft-boy character. I’ve known him as a chivalrous lover from The Notebook or a rouge action star in The Gray Man and Blade Runner 2049.

I’m eager to watch how he will portray a plastic Ken doll. The trailer looks promising with him throwing boyish and sheepish smiles along the way. I think Ryan Gosling is a charmer just like Ken. Aside from just being handsome, I’m keen to see his chemistry with Barbie. As boyfriend-girlfriend, teaser scenes portray them cutely with matching outfits.

Life in plastic, it’s fantastic!

Ever since I was a young girl I wonder what it feels like to actually live in Barbie’s Dreamhouse. And this film might give a glimpse of the experience.

The pink paradise of Barbie Land is much awaited. The set tells a lot in a movie and it adds depth to the plastic life of Barbie.

The bright and quirky pink set in fact caused the world to run out of pink. Production designer Sarah Greenwood said in an interview with Architectural Digest that the creation of the Barbie’s Dreamhouse set caused a shortage of fluorescent shade due to the pandemic supply issues.

The star-studded Barbies are also to watch for! Seeing singer Dua Lipa in the promotional posters made fans more excited. Sex Education star Emma Mackey and Bridgerton actress Nicola Coughlan are also remarkable Barbies.

Aside from these stars, I’m also eager to see the different occupations of these Barbies in the movie. The film portrays professional Barbies as a doctor, a Nobel Prize awardee in Physics, a Supreme Court Justice, a lawyer, a president, a diplomat, an author, and a Pulitzer awardee. These positive representations show little girls to dream big and aim high.

Of course, if there are Barbies, there are also Kens! Shang-Chi star Simu Liu as Ken is someone I’m not prepared for. As I saw him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is refreshing to see him in the Barbie world.

The love story!

As the adventure unfolds, I’m also excited for the kilig scenes between Margot and Ryan! The couple is surely looking lovely in their matching outfits. Aside from the comedy, a love story between them would make hopeless romantics swoon.
