Taylor Swift joins Tiktok

On Monday (Manila time), Miss Swift surprised Swifties as she joined the extremely popular platform, TikTok. The amazing songwriter uploaded her first video, promoting her album Red (Taylor’s version).

Since I have my notifications on for her posts, both on Twitter and Instagram, I almost jumped off my seat when she said that she already joined Tiktok. It is a platform. I, myself, am very addicted to the app. What a perfect site it would be if my most favorite singer is on it too.

The TikTok video features her released albums last year. Albums such as Folklore which debuted on July 24, 2020, Evermore on December 11, 2020, Fearless (Taylor’s version) on April 9, 2021. Finally, Red (Taylor’s version), which is set to be launched on November 19 later this year.

Her caption read “Lots going on at the moment”, which is a callback when she said “Not a lot going on at the moment” a lot of times.

In a span of an hour, the video accumulated at least 104.7k likes and her verified account gained 133.7k followers. As of the writing of this article, however, the video has already 7.5 Million views, and her account has already reached 1.3 Million followers.

On June 19, she announced the release of her re-recorded Red album. It will feature 30 songs, including one 10-minute track that is widely speculated to be Swift’s “All Too Well”. The re-recordings are a part of Swift’s efforts to take back control of her previous albums.

Tay-Tay’s biography in her TikTok account says “This is pretty much just a cat account”. It is no secret that the queen loves cats, with felines of her own, namely Meredith, Olivia, and the recent cutie, Benjamin.

The 31-year-old singer has 11 wins and 41 nominations at the Grammy Awards. In June last year in a story on Instagram, Swift lent her voice for the #JunkTerrorBill campaign in the Philippines.

It’s exciting how Taylor joined the platform already and the fast-approaching release of her Red (Taylor’s Version) album. This is another win for us Swifties.
