[Reaction]: BSD Season 4 Episode 3 made me cry

Continuing from thrilling ending of Episode 2 where Ranpo was held by suspicious officer Mitamura. ‘Where is the police car heading and what will happen to Ranpo?’ Those were some of the points wandering inside my head while waiting on Episode 3.

BSD Reaction: Season 4 Episode 3 made me cry

The truth is Bungo Stray Dogs (BSD) always caught me unguarded. It never fails to astound and hook its viewers. In fact, I didn’t expect to be teary-eyed on BSD Episode 3. Crying on a shounen genre never crossed my mind. But Bungo Stray Dogs made that happen. Having said that, what do you think happened on Episode 3?

First, watch the trailer of BSD Season 4 Episode 3 here:

BSD Season 4 Episode 3: The Secret Founding of Detective Agency

While Ranpo is inside the police car with Mitamura, Fukuzawa is already wary on the situation of Ranpo because other police officers investigating inside the theater couldn’t contact them. And Ranpo already know that the murderer is still on the loose after exposing the accomplice of  stage writer. Hence, Ranpo being a gifted detective, he just let Mitamura to take the lead on their agency’s (V) hideout gambling his own life.

Mitamura bring Ranpo with the thought of scouting him to join them at their agency called V—the agency of gifted driving out gifted. However, Ranpo is hilarious. His reaction on that invitation is incredible like a child getting bored on adults blabbing. He said: “moo! You’re like a cattle mooing.” Entertaining right? Well, he is Ranpo, so there is nothing less to expect.

The scene that showed the origin of Detective Agency was seen this episode when Natsume Soseki assisted Fukuzawa and Ranpo to obtain Gifted Business Permit.

BSD Reaction: So, what is the reason this episode made me cry?

It is when Fukuzawa arrived at secret hideout of V, where Ranpo is being held. Astonishingly, Ranpo calculated everything because he assumed that Fukuzawa would come and save him. Little did Ranpo knows how much worried Fukuzawa is. Thus, after capturing Mitamura, he gets a hard slap from Fukuzawa, and that is the very moment I get emotional. Fukuzawa’s word for Ranpo since Episode 1 is personal and heart melting—like a child being lectured by his guardian.

Showing your ability is fine and using your intellect to face powerful enemies is good. But stop wagering your own life on your gambles! You’re still a child.”–Fukuzawa, BSD.

I bawled my eyes out along with the loud cry of Ranpo. Funny as it may sound, but the personality and leadership of Fukuzawa gets me. My admiration for Fukuzawa continues to bloom more as episodes goes by. Not only did he reclaim himself from the ritual of killing, but he also became a righteous man who is willing to disregard his principle of justice just to save his subordinate.
