My favorite lyrics from Taylor Swift and her songs

Personally, I think Taylor Swift owns some of the greatest songs of all time. She is known for her passionate and artistic storytelling of her romantic triumphs and tribulations through music. This brilliant singer-songwriter writes and co-writes her songs with so much finesse and it seems like she was born to do it. In fact, a Billboard article once said that she, since the age of twelve, has written 54 songs on her own. And, that screams gifted, passionate, and badass.

EDITOR’S NOTE: This article was written before the announcement and release of Taylor Swift’s newest album, Midnights.

Meanwhile, ever since a friend from third grade introduced Taylor Swift to me, she instantly became my favorite artist. Every time I listen to her songs, I cannot help but notice how perfectly she pieced the words together. She truly knows how to play and command the words. It always feels like reading a novel or watching a movie. A certain scene will always come to mind.

With that, here are some of the most badass lyrics from her songs that you must know. Who knows? They may come in handy in the future.

“But I come back stronger than a 90s trend.”

Probably the most iconic lyrics Taylor Swift has ever written. Hailing from Willow, these lyrics may stand as her embodiment as an artist. Despite all the criticisms and controversies which surrounded her in the past, she came back stronger and better.

“I never trust a narcissist, but they love me, so I play ’em like a violin and I make it look oh so easy.”

Nobody wants to trust a narcissist. Right? Coming from I Did Something Bad, these words are totally badass. In these lyrics, it seems that Taylor Swift is implying that she will not let the bad ones outsmart her.

“I’m the only one of me. Baby, that’s the fun of me.”

These lyrics from ME! make me want to feel proud of myself for being me. In this song, Taylor brings positive vibes by emphasizing self-appreciation despite all the mistakes and imperfections.

“Honey, I rose up from the dead, I do it all the time.”

From her song Look What You Made Me Do, these words imply that Taylor will always come back each time she leaves, whatever it takes. And we have seen that happen many times before.

“I swear I don’t love the drama, it loves me”

These words are from her song End Game. In this particular part of the song, Taylor wants to tell that she is not always the problem. People just love to paint her in a bad light and create “drama”.

“You don’t need to save me. But would you run away with me?”

In these lyrics from Call It What You Want, Taylor’s Juliet era is gone. She needs no Romeo to save her. What she wanted is to be appreciated, be treated fairly, and be with her lover.

“I’ll be the actress starring in your bad dreams.”

Another lyric from Look What You Made Me Do tells that whoever does Taylor wrong will face a rather “bad” consequence. So, never cross the line and make the badass Taylor haunt you in your bad dreams.

“I like shiny things, but I’d marry you with paper rings.”

In these lyrics from Paper Rings, Taylor expressed her devotion to her “baby boy.” For her, he is the one she wants so she will be with him through thick and thin.

“Forgetting him was like tryin’ know somebody you never met.”

With these lyrics from Red, Taylor implies how impossible it is to move on from someone you truly love. Heartbreaks suck but the imagery slays.

“I think I’ve seen this film before. And I didn’t like the ending.”

These words are from exile. Perhaps the saddest lyrics and song from the rest. In these lyrics, Taylor likens the story of a failed relationship to a certain movie’s bad ending. The lyrics hit hard therefore it’s badass.

The music industry will never be the same without the brilliant mind of Taylor Swift. Her songs are exceptionally sincere, beautiful, and artistic. Nobody tells stories the way she does. And just like what her fans would always put it, she is the “music industry.”
