Kathleen Paton wins Miss Eco International 2022
PH’s very own Kathleen Paton captures the 2022 Miss Eco International crown. She is the second Filipina to win the title, following Cynthia Thomalla who won in 2018.
Succeding South Africa’s Gizzelle Uys, the pageant’s finale took place at the Triumph Luxury Hotel in Cairo, Egypt. Beating 40 other candidates, her runners-up include first runner-up Chloe Reweghs of Belgium, second runner-up USA’s Jassy Peralta, third runner-up Lucia Morales of Spain, and fourth runner-up Prasana Shri of Malaysia.
Second times a charm
Aside from winning the country’s second Miss Eco crown, this is actually Kathleen’s second international win.
She first represented the Philippines in 2017 when she won Miss Teen International in Bangkok, Thailand. Since then, many pageant fans have been waiting for her to compete in any of the big national pageants in the Philippines.
Four years later, Kathleen joined Miss World Philippines 2021, representing Aklan, and eventually won the title of Miss Eco Philippines.
Eco Powerhouse
Since acquiring the franchise by the Miss World Philippines Organization in 2017, the country has had a consistent track record in the pageant.
In just four years, the Philippines has produced not only two winners but also two first runner-up finishes. The first one was in 2018 with Maureen Montagne followed by Kelly Day in 2021.
In its teen counterpart, Miss Eco Teen Internation, the Philippines also doesn’t disappoint. Daena Resurreccion was the country’s first representative in 2019, finishing in the Top 5. In 2020, Roberta Tamondong won the title and just last year, Tatyana Austria places 1st runner-up.
