Cinephiles, get ready to celebrate! The highly anticipated Metro Manila Film Festival is making a triumphant return, unveiling its thrilling lineup of ten official nominees for this year’s cinematic extravaganza.

The Filipino cinema is undeniably thriving and reaching new heights even up to this day, as the MMFF has just announced its ten official films. It features several renowned artists, and the majority of these films garnered significant hype and anticipation from online audiences.

Moreover, indulging in fresh cinematic experiences, especially those from our local film industry, is undeniably thrilling.

In that case, I am also thrilled to present the six (6) films meticulously chosen from a pool of 30 submissions.

  1. When I Met You In Tokyo, a JG Productions film directed by Conrado Peru, featuring Vilma Santos-Recto, Christopher de Leon, Darren Espanto, and Cassy Legaspi.
  2. Mallari, Mentorque Productions presents its cast, featuring Piolo Pascual, JC Santos, Elisse Joson, Janella Salvador, and Gloria Diaz, in a compelling cinematic experience directed by Derick Cabrido.
  3. Becky And Badette, a cinematic showcase by The IdeaFirst Company directed by Jun Robles Rana, starring Eugene Domingo and Pokwang.
  4. Gomburza, directed by Pepe Diokno from JesCom Films, starring Piolo Pascual, Enchong Dee, Cedrick Juan, and Dante Rivero.
  5. Broken Hearts Trip, by BMC Films directed by Lemuel Lorca featuring Christian Bables.
  6. Firefly, a GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs film directed by Zig Dulay. A captivating film featuring Alessandra De Rossi, Max Collins, Miguel Tanfelix, and Ysabel Ortega.

Furthermore, we also have the initial four (4) selections that were made from script submissions received on July 10, 2023.

  1. A Mother And Son Story, by CINEKO Productions under the direction of Nuel Naval starring Alden Richards and Sharon Cuneta.
  2. (K)ampon, starred by Beauty Gonzalez Crisologo and Derek Ramsay, a production by Quantum Films, under the direction of King Palisoc.
  3. Penduko, a VIVA Films and SARI SARI Channel Network film directed by Jason Paul Laxamana. It features the artists, Matteo Guidicelli and Kylie Verzosa. And finally;
  4. Rewind, by Star Cinema, Agosto Dos Productions, and APT Entertainment Inc. under Mae Cruz Alviar‘s direction. It also features the Primetime King and Queen, Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera.
All of these films will be available for viewing in your nearby cinemas during the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Official 2023, which will grace our local silver screens from December 25, 2023, to January 7, 2024.
