Gladys Reyes, Romnick Sarmenta, KaladKaren among winners of Summer MMFF 2023
The pioneer summer edition of the reputed Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) has successfully concluded. Out of over 30 film submissions, only eight entries were selected as qualifiers. The final entries were then screened in cinemas nationwide beginning April 8.
Meanwhile, the film festival recognized this year’s winners in the Summer MMFF 2023 Gabi ng Pangaral held at the New Frontier Theater. Seasoned actress and Golden Globe and Bafta nominee Dolly de Leon led the jury in choosing the victors.
With nine trophies, About Us But Not About Us was named the big winner at the awarding ceremony. Additionally, the entry took home the Best Actor title for Romnick Sarmenta and the coveted prize for Best Picture, Screenplay, and Cinematography.
On the other hand, Gladys Reyes from Apag clinched the award for Best Actress. Jervi Li, more popularly known as KaladKaren, also made waves after her remarkable feat as the first transgender to get acknowledgment for Best Supporting Actress.

- Best Cinematography: Neil Daza, About Us But Not About Us
- Best Editing: Lawrence Ang, About Us But Not About Us
- Best Sound: Armand de Guzman, About Us But Not About Us
- Best Musical Score: Teresa Barrozo, About Us But Not About Us
- Best Original Theme Song: “Paralaya” by Andy Alviz, Apag
- Best Production Design: Marxie Maolen Fadul, About Us But Not About Us
- Special Jury Prize: Here Comes the Groom and Elijah Canlas
